Hello Ebabil,

Hello,

It's not a big problem, if you want in few hours when I wake up I test this same skin like you.

If I meet the same problem like you I fix this bug and if everything is OK I give you the good method or file.

You know in the begining with my first skin I've meet the same problem but after few test now it's the past and everything is OK.

Please wait few hours and I give you the solution...

Bye, Skull.

it is ok skull , I am standing by. I think there is a conflict between this blue skin and my older skins, or one of them is not compatible with 1.2.8

Please note that , I don't have a problem with this blue skin, if I use it with another huey with add-on livery, blue one corrupts other huey's textures

Re save the templates and double check your description file.

Sir, I have no idea or knowledge at making repaints , thanks anyway

Where can I view and download all of Skulleader's skins? I went to user files on the DCS site and there are only 8 different skins but it seems he has done considerably more than that, based on this thread... any help is much appreciated!

Virginia Army National Guard UH1H

I wanted to make a DCS Huey skin so a friend of mine in the v229th, who is a UH60 pilot in the VANG, gave me this pic:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/legpng1ie3wpfwb/real_29th_bird.jpg

Below is the Fictional Huey I did in the same scheme and numbers:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zkx3m1vcka5c50p/VANG_Huey.jpg

Next I plan to make an actual VANG Huey from back when they were still flying them. Also, a Washington NG Huey (WA state that is...) Below is a VANG Huey:

I hope everyone enjoys this one. I had a blast making it, and it's a good skin to use for any US Army mission. Feedback is ALWAYS welcome...

Here is the download link for the VANG UH-1H in the modern Blackhawk scheme:

Last Virginia Guard UH-1H

As stated above, after painting the Huey like a VANG Blackhawk, I wanted to accurately model a real VANG Huey from back when the VANG flew them. I decided, after hitting a brick wall in the research department, to do the last Virginia NG Huey to leave. Below is the only picture of a Virginia Huey that I could find, but I think we will all enjoy the skin all the same...

This is what I came up with:

Can someone create this one please?

...

Similar to the one we have but all, but this one is all in grey with no blue.

There's some blue, but it's not nearly as dark (it's to MilSpec).

Hello, skulleader -

Back in April you posted skins for aircraft belonging to the 116th AHC. While I appreciate the work involved, you ought to know that you got your units mixed up. Stingers were the gunship platoon, while Yellow Jackets (and Wasps - white ID color) was a lift platoon.

Consequently, the skins you've shown cannot be accurate, since Yellow Jackets didn't carry ordnance, and Stingers always did.

Swap the colors and you'll be fine.

ETA - No, it won't be fine. See my next post.

Actually, it's much worse than that. If you switch colors on the aircraft which you identify as a Stinger bird, you have a Yellow Jacket UH-1D or UH-1H. The aircraft you identify as a Yellow Jacket is very badly wrong, even if you change the colors to red and call it a Stinger. On the one hand, the window panels identify it as a UH-1D or UH-1H, and these were never gunships, which were UH-1C or UH-1M. Even if you get the airframe correct (no window just behind the pilot's door, only a single window on the main door, the fuselage needs to be shorter, and there is no separate side-facing seat for the door gunner and crew chief), the armament is just wrong.

First off, a minigun-equipped gunship only carried a pair of 7-tube rocket pods, not the 17-tube pod which you show. The combination would have been too heavy. Second, such a pod would have been mounted on the same pylon as the minigun, but inboard of the minigun. There would have been no rear-mounted hardpoint for the rockets.

Assuming a 17-tube pod, as you show, it would have been mounted as shown but there would have been no minigun pylon at all.

Sorry for the criticism, but Huey gunships were not just slicks with weapons tacked on, as you seem to think.

And the problems I've identified apply to every Huey gunship you've modeled.

It's been a while, but the D/H gunship issue has been discussed extensively. Australian D/H were configured as gunships as per the DCS UH-1H.

We don't have C models in DCS so some liberty has to be taken with the skins.

It's much better than having no skins at all.

Ah. Please forgive a newbie's ignorance.

Accepting the substitution of D/H fuselage for C/M models, the mounting issue remains. See http://www.174ahc.org/easy-1.htm for a picture showing the mounting of miniguns and rockets.

As I remarked before, the combination of minigun and 17-tube pods was simply not feasible due to weight. Even with the smaller rocket loads, there existed a technique called "Charlie-mode takeoff". Under conditions of high heat and humidity (such as, obviously, RVN), a fully loaded and fuelled gunship was simply unable to hover on takeoff. What they had to do was get as close to hover as possible, then start accelerating forward with the skids dragging. Drag from the skids would get the aircraft "up on its toes", and the skids would drag less and less until finally there was no contact. And even then, sometimes it didn't work, which required very good technique to get stopped safely and burn off fuel.

So, no rocket pods as shown, and the pylons need considerable work.

The mounting is correct for an Australian UH-1H, which was just a slick with guns tacked on... and a sight... and a control panel on the centre pedestal... and a temporary increase in MAUW while in gunship configuration. :)

Pic doesn't seem to be loading, here's the link : http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101120124140/themarshall/images/1/1a/0722818.jpg

As for the 17 tube rocket mounts, that is selected by the user in the arming window. You can select the 7 tube mounts instead.

In fact all of the armaments are user-defined.

I know how heavy they can be, I used to fly UH-1H slicks and guns. :)

This is a Slick converted into a Gun Ship flown in VN by my good friend 3-3 / Steve " Tooth " Bookout aka Bookie...120th AHC Razorbacks

Notice no hard points were needed to lighten the load all liners benches and non essential items were removed.

He flew this GS at treetop level at 35 kts at night.
