Hmmm, that's why I didn't get the update yet on the final, so the conclusion is continue to have the openbeta installed.

It says it is for the release in the post from Chizh.

If 1.2.7 is still in Open Beta, then we need some actual information from ED as to what this really is, or what the Release was.

I will also be looking at that 'updated' Huey manual as soon as I figure out where to install this mess. It will be interesting to see if the overhead console has finally been documented.

OpenBeta updated but released version will not.

EDIT: I guess the Huey manual got some spelling corrections.

The Autoupdate.cfg of the two version is different:

  • Release:
    "WARNING": "DO NOT EDIT this file. You may break your install!",
    "version": "1.2.7.23097.351",
    "arch": "x86_64",
    "lang": "EN",
    "modules": [

  • Openbeta:
     "WARNING": "DO NOT EDIT this file. You may break your install!",
    "branch": "openbeta",
    "version": "1.2.7.23803.355",
    "arch": "x86_64",
    "lang": "EN",
    "modules": [

By adding "branch": "openbeta", and running a Repair you can transform your install from Release to Openbeta and viceversa (by erasing)

Damn, I deleted the open beta from my PC only yesterday. Wasn't aware that moving forward things come to openbeta first and then get released on official branch days later.

Anyway, good stuff! Looking forward to installing the update come Monday :) (and may finally feel brave enough to join multiplayer too -- mostly as target practice for other players and AI, I suppose :D)

My humble rig: Windows 10 pro 64bit; i7-6700k on Gigabyte Z170X G7; 32GB; MSI 980ti Twin Frozr; 512GB Samsung 950 Pro (NVMe/PCIe x4); 1TB Samsung 850 Pro; Komplete Audio 6; TrackIR 5 Pro;

What is the point of the Open Beta, if you already plan on releasing the update on Monday (in three days) anyway?

Alone to keep the Open Beta in sync with the Release version is a good point. At some day the Open Beta will be updated to 1.2.8 and then a new official testing phase begins. (all this as "imho")

if there are any major issues, they can always post pone the monday update to the non beta branch.

Worth Downloading the Beta Now?

Hi Guys,

Since 1.2.7 is final, is it worth downloading the 1.2.7 beta for further testing or . . . . will there be a new beta for 1.2.8?

Would the existing 1.2.7 beta be used as a platform for 1.2.8 testing?

I'm asking this because the download time to get the beta is horrendous and if it is not being used further, I will wait but if it is going to be used as a basis for further testing of 1.2.8, I'll bite the bullet and start the download.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,

Cats . . .
