Apparently, the X45 mechanism was noticeably worse (cheaper) than X36. The problem with X36 USB was the lack of drivers (though, there were some 3rd party ones).

The X55 actually looks pretty decent, I just wish they'd stop cheaping out on the rotary pots and switches.

That was the only thing wrong with the X-45 imho, it was a good HOTAS. I ended up giving it to a friend and when got my CH.

I wish Saitek does a better job filtering analog signals. Slider on X52 and X52pro is just a bout useless. Just because the signal is not filtered properly.

Ar they talking about two X55 joysticks? Mach and Rhino? If so maybe one is FFB.

I would like a Joystick with Warthog slim base like... but with both FFB and Force sensing. If I want to fly an F16 or a Rafale the FFB should make the stick stiff and the Force Sensing should take over... other than that the Force sensing would have a role in modulating the power from FFB in some occasions... like a feedback better than the optical sensor from G940 that has only 0 and 1 positions... like when you take the hand of it should not snap like a moron but sense I let it go and move slowly to center. Etc.

And I don't like replicas... sorry... I fly more than one plane and flying a 109 with a full replica of A10C controls and mapping Coolie hat to... say radiator cowls is funny... So Saitek sticks and my G940 are ok in this aspect. :D

Looking good. Probably a successor to the X65 (since there were quite a few people who didn't like a non movable stick).

I would consider between it and the king cobra. Probably would go for the later if I hadn't already a Warthog.

That sounds like what I had in mind by "cheap components" - I recall having issues with the rotaries and the mini joystick axis and such with the X52 Pro occasionally. I think the X65 is definitely better in this regard, though that's not saying much. The G940 buttons and rotaries feel cheaper, though I don't really notice any spiking issues - perhaps this is what you're referring to and Logitech implemented this part in a better way..

But the King Cobra doesn´t have a throttle. Does it?

No but nothing stops you from buying a separate one even from a different brand. I have done that numerous times.

New Saitek X-55

I found two pictures

Since no throttle in the trailer, I don;t know whether they are accurate or not.

just 4fun

btw, could saitek redesign the model or throttle?

I'm pretty much sure you are right on the money here. If you pay attention to saitek testing bench found on their tweeter account. The throttle or its prototype is in right lower corner.

There is also another cable where picture ends that's probably going to be the stick but clearly they would not dare to capture that

Oh well I like the stick but ill prefer to stay with my x65 throttle if someone need this throttle but not a stick pm me

I didn't mind the spring plate system, the X-52 lasted me 4 years, 1 of solid use. If it wasn't for the X-52 I really don't know if i would have ever gotten into simming like I did.

As for the speculation game, a new X-52 would sound about right, so would the x-65 without force sensing, so maybe Both?

imo Saitek are in a good position to offer a good (Much cheaper) alternative to the Warthog.

but, thats just my 2c.

Yep, I like the X-65F design but the force sensing is a "no go" for me. I have my X-52 for 6 years without problems, always credible ... without the slide, but there are enough other buttons and the SST software do the rest. ;)

But now, some buttons/ functions are broken, so I'll buy a new X-52 or the X-55 - if the price is convenient.

I think, the throttle and stick of the X-55 looks like the X-65F, only the plates look different and on the stick there is a spring. Looking forward to this HOTAS system! :)

None.

Although, before Christmas is almost a given considering the timing of the announcement. The price is just my thought on what the market would probably accept.

I don't see how you can have serious force feedback with a spring centred stick. With my MSFF2 a big part of FF for me is the variable centring forces available.

I would like to be able to buy a high end FF stick. A forcefeedback TM Warthog for instance, something like that. I'm happy with my MSFF2, I use an X52 throttle with it, but its more than 10 years old and its amazing that nothing better is available.

Saitek EvoForce had a spring centering system, and was more then capable to hold the stick anywhere within its displacement range. Spring centering system, and the spring itself, is not strong enough to overcome the force of the Force Feedback actuators. Thus, the stick can be held anywhere, without any problem.

Anyone noticed the rotary wheel above the spring? Seems to me this can be used to adjust the centering force.

Personally i'm not waiting for another X52 Pro type of stick. I do hope that after the force sensing X65, this will be the "pro" force feedback option Saitek will offer.....we will see....
