"Our company AirCorps Aviation doing the scanning for use on a Razorback P-47 we are restoring to original airworthy condition. We do the scanning for hire for any restoration."

 

"The large square targets are reference for a camera that ties together all small targets and is calibrated from a bar and L shaped piece which are standards. The scanning system can then hold a tolerance of a few thousandths of an inch over 40 feet. We can see scratches in the metal and read head markings in rivets and fasteners. It's amazing!"

As a backer I choose the P-40 as one of my 3 choices and have been waiting for over a year to get my selection. Haven't heard any Official news lately, just wondering what's the status on this bird and if I will be looking at more years before release? Thanks from a paid customer.

For everyone out there that is interested, read some of this manual. I've found some very interesting procedures not so common in other aircraft. Goes into a good bit of detail as well.

I hope the P-47 will be released this year. She's my favorite aircraft of WW2 and I've dreamed of flying her for a long time, this module is the closest I'll ever get to flying the real thing so I'm pretty excited for it's release.

I wonder how far along in development it is? I hope it won't be much longer, but I'm willing to wait for a great product

Very cool, I love the P-47..its raw power,toughness and firepower..Radial engines FTW;) Can't wait for the additional ww2 planes and the Normandy 1944 map to be released.

Late 2016...maybe as "everything is subject to change". Hopefully, development will accelerate once the Spit is in our hangars.

 

My gut feeling is Q2/2017...with No rhyme or reason. Just speculation.

I really hope we don't have to wait another year for the Thunderbolt, it would be very disappointing seeing as we've been waiting for a few years already.

The problem with the P-47D-30 is, surprisingly that there isn't enough data...

 

"We could not find enough authentic wind tunnel information for this plane, so I am not sure that the plane will be as authentically tailored as our previous WWII and modern planes. These are our strict quality requirements. So we had to lay the 3D model to the upper shelf and switched to Spit."

 

This is shame considering that many others are waiting for this plane too. This is some what depressing considering that I've literally got nothing forward to look to(when it comes to other simulators and games) other than this plane xD. Yes, the P-47D-30 will be easily outclassed by the Bf-109K4 and Fw-190D9 in the current meta, but its still my favourite plane :P.

I think you are correct also the plane will take longer to learn and will be more hands on than the 109 and 190 however it is going to be bloody good fun to fly because of it... after the spit i think this could end up being my go to allied aircraft :)

I thought they actually had a real P-47 and that they were using it to gather data. Couldn't they just build a accurate model and do wind tunnel test themselves? I don't know how much work that would require but it seems possible.

I just hope to see her soon, and hopefully she gets worked on more once the spit comes out.

 

I hope they do her dmg model well, I've read that the Tbolt was a tough bird. And I don't think she will be too outclassed, you just have to use her properly, I've read that nothing could rival the 47 at high altitude. All around she's a good dogfighter.

I can imagine the P-47 tanking a few more 20mm, but either way a K4 with it's high explosive basket ball launching gun is going to make short work of even the most durable aircraft. :) The P-47 will definitely shine at high altitudes, 8000m+, but all of the dogfights in the game take place at lower altitudes. Maybe with the introduction of AI B-17s will we be actually seeing some high altitude dogfights.

 

I'm more excited about the firepower of 8x.50 cals with a crap ton of ammo. 32 seconds compared to that of the mustangs 20 seconds(not including inboard guns).

The exact same thing is said with a P-38 pilot, don't screw with any of the controls when you enter compressibility.

I'm not expecting the 47 to be unstoppable but I am expecting it to be hard to take down. I've seen pictures of 47s after they've been hit by 88s or had a few cylinders knocked out and it still made it home. Thats the kind of durability I want to see in game.

 

I agree that we need some bombers of some kind to escort, that way we can use the 47 and 51s strengths.

 

Also, does anyone know what kind of ground targets we'll get in ww2? I'm hoping for some trains, tanks, convoys, and buildings to take out. And of course some airfields with german bombers or something.

 

I think people underestimate the P-47s dog-fighting capabilities, of course she never went up against the 109k or 190d as far as I know. For this line up I'd say the P47n is a better match but I'm happy being in the d model.

I think this is the proper specs for the D-30, either way it will be hard beat it at altitude.

 

I dont know the speeds of the Dora or 109K so if someone could post those for a better comparison that would be great.
