jazjar
Hello, I am tired of running my games, arma3 specifically at low and still experiencing massive lag with my BS HD6770. I have an i7-2600 @ 3.4ghz, 12gb of RAM, and a 1920x1200 monitor. I finally figured out that AMD makes crap, so what Nvidia card should I go with? I intend on playing games like arma3, arma2, upcoming DCS games, and steelbeasts, so what should I purchase for a video card? -Thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
pacotito
I wouldn't really say they make crap. Its all a matter of budget. The 6770 is a low end video card. What is your budget? Generally the lowest card from nvidia that would be recommended for gaming would be the 660ti or a 7950 from AMD. Also keep in mind that console ports are going to be optimized for AMD CPU and gpu once the ps4 and Xbox one come out. Its already been announced battlefield 4 will be optimized for AMD. jazjar
Thank you for the response. I didn't really mean that all AMD cards are bad, just that most of them are. For example, the 7950 is pretty close to the highest video card they offer-the 7990, while Nvidia, which goes into their 700 series, as you said is acceptable at 660. Sorry for any confusion. pacotito
Yeah i would recommend a 770 depending on your budget. I too am looking to upgrade soon but I'm waiting to see what AMD brings later this year. Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. pacotito
The reports I've been reading...granted they are just expectations...the next line of AMD gpus is going to be far ahead of NVIDIA as they are introducing a new platform as opposed to a rehash. Probably not a titan killer but close. Especially since most non PC exclusive games will most likely be optimized for AMD systems Edited July 16, 2013 by pacotito Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. jazjar
I play only PC exclusive games ;). I know this is a little OT, but should I think about upgrading or OC'ing my i7-2600? Is it OK, or will it be limiting me if I try to play high performance sims/games with a high end gpu like the 770? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rangi
Do you have a 2600K? If you just have the 2600 no overclocking for you as intel have downgraded the 2600 to stop you from O/Cing it. As said above best bang for buck video card at the moment is GTX770. @pacotito, do you know when the next gen AMD cards are going to be released? jazjar
Yeah I just have the regular 2600, not the K version :(. But it does run at 3.4 ghz, is that good enough? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Night
Does anyone know if the nvidia GTX760 will play DCS: A-10C at all high settings with a 1080p resolution? lanmancz
Does anyone know if the nvidia GTX760 will play DCS: A-10C at all high settings with a 1080p resolution? Yeah, I can confirm this. I just got it and DCS runs fine with all on high (except civ traffic - I keep it off) + 4x AA @ 1920x1080.
