Flagrum
Uh - thanks, Flagrum...I was typing too fast ;). "Can you tell us what type of NAV system that is? So we can start googling for infos and manuals ... :o)" Do you mean. The Doppler ? Yes, "DPLR NAV". Sooo many buttons ... sweet! :o) What is it exactly? Or perhaps you even have some links to related information, manuals, etc.?

The_Fragger
Yes, "DPLR NAV". Sooo many buttons ... sweet! :o) What is it exactly? Or perhaps you even have some links to related information, manuals, etc.? The doppler navigation system AN/ASN-128 is a complete autark navigation system. It does not need any ground station. position and ground speed is calculated by the comparing two radar reflection frequency generated by several on board directional antennas. Since one pair of antennas are directed forward and a second pair backwards, the received reflections differ slightly in frequency, because the helicopter moves towards the forward reflection point and away from the backward reflection point. The effect is comparable with the situation of a train passing by. If the train moves towards the listener, he hears the sound on a higher frequency. If it is passed by, the sound is on a lower frequency. The frequency delta is the base for speed and direction calculations. Based on the initial home location, the current position can be calculated by continuous incremented speed vectors. In former times, the precision was very poor. It needed periodic manual corrections by the operator. The state of the art doppler systems are very precise because the newer hardware works on higher clock cycles and is more sensitive. Even the use of laser gyros enhanced the system precision. There are still some restrictions to be maintained to avoid signal misinterpretation. These are turns with more than 45° bank or pitch higher than 30°. It displays: - your present Position to your destination in longitude and latitude and/or transversal mercator coordinates - Groundspeed in km/h or knots - Steercourse over ground in degrees - Sphäroidcode to Destination (Entered via Keyboard) - flightpath deviation to Destinaton (Entered via Keyboard)...... GunfighterSIX
Looks amazing, I have been following you work for a while know and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I was wondering, are you going to go with just the AN/ASN-128? or upgrade to the AN/ASN-128B or D? We have been using the AN/ASN-128B/D's in the uh-60A/L's for a long time. It integrates both Doppler and Gps. We dont use the Doppler part anymore, its pain in the ass to keep updating with known points to keep it accurate and on course and its not near is accurate as Gps. Not sure what the real Bo-105 used but I cant imagine only having Doppler after all these years. Keep of the great work. That state will feature the SEM-91 (VHF/FM), XT-3010/01 (UHF/AM) and a more modern version of the Doppler. Basically I would like to have a menu where you can choose your configuration. And, by the way, I'm not a friend of modern devices. That's because of the more technology a device/plane/helicopter have, the more the possibillity increases of failing (in real life):smilewink: Best example is the Tiger/Eurofighter/NH90 :D Edited December 21, 2013 by The_Fragger 2D/3D Artist MILTECH-5 /PD Lead 3D Artist - TrueGrit Virtual Technologies [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] BO-105 PAH1A1/VBH / HKP-9A / BO-105 CBS-5 KLH Eurofighter Typhoon https://www.facebook.com/PolyDynamicsDCS/ Windows 10 (x64) 3x Corsair SSD GT 250 GB Mainboard: Asus STRIX Z390-F CPU: Intel Core I9-9900K @ 3.60GHz RAM: 64 Gb Graphics: MSI GForce GTX 980 TI 4GB HOTAS Warthog Hofmann Simpad Rudders Oculus Rift / Oculus Touch Heavy Metal is the law ! :punk:

Only more ridiculous I can think of is "million of back-and-forths" :D A specific frequency is expressed in Hertz. Means, the number of full electro magnetic wave cycles per second. If you speak about (Example) a VHF frequency of 122.1 MHz, then you can even say 122 100 000 Hz or 122 100 000 Cycles, which is 122.1 Mega Cycles. 2D/3D Artist MILTECH-5 /PD Lead 3D Artist - TrueGrit Virtual Technologies [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] BO-105 PAH1A1/VBH / HKP-9A / BO-105 CBS-5 KLH Eurofighter Typhoon https://www.facebook.com/PolyDynamicsDCS/ Windows 10 (x64) 3x Corsair SSD GT 250 GB Mainboard: Asus STRIX Z390-F CPU: Intel Core I9-9900K @ 3.60GHz RAM: 64 Gb Graphics: MSI GForce GTX 980 TI 4GB HOTAS Warthog Hofmann Simpad Rudders Oculus Rift / Oculus Touch Heavy Metal is the law ! :punk:
