Grimes
I think it would depend on the layout of the course. I was wondering if it might be worth checking that they go through each gate in order. Missing a gate can then display a message "gate x missed, 10 sec penalty" or whatever. I was toying with adding each players lap times/ fastest lap times / race time & fastest race time but it means changing the way you have done the triggers. I don't like the idea of height penalties as going high or diving low is part of the tactics. It also adds the vertical element to the race. Maybe have certain gates with a height restriction to provide some close proximity excitement? At first I wanted to check the gates in order, but with triggers alone I'm not sure it is a viable option. There was just to much room for a trigger to fail causing the whole thing to screw up. I had set it up so that the condition read something like "Player in zone "gate 2a" AND Flag 11 = 5" where the numeric vale of flag 11 defined the current active gate and each correct gate would add 1 to flag 11. It worked fine and dandy until a player missed a gate. I couldn't come up with a decent way to detect missing a gate, so it required the player to double back to the correct gate in order to continue. I thought this would break the realism and pace of the race, so I modified my thinking to the newer approach. I brought up height restrictions thinking that A. Limits cheating. In Nate's first draft a player could just do loops at the start/finish line and win. B. I could have swore that in real air race events a pilot could be penalized or disqualified by going either to low or to high for safety reasons. By all means toy with the mission how you like. Nate put it up for the purpose of people like us fiddling with it to make it work. Having fastest lap times and all that other timing and scoring stuff that I love from F1 would be freaking amazing to have. :D The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Blaze
There is a civilian setting in the ME I think. Nate What would be nice, would be in addition to the weight of the weapons being removed, the under-wing pylons were also removed off the P-51 when "Civilian Plane" was checked. It would make civilian repaints look so much nicer. i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. Hellfire257
...I built a clock in DCS once using a truck driving in a circuit through a trigger zone repeatedly ;) Now that is impressive.

sonic
Alright, I think I got my idea implemented enough for testing. All 5 aircraft should work. Although the player 1 aircraft will have signal flares launch from it every time a penalty is assessed. Everything should work in theory, but my lack of actually owning P-51 is preventing me from putting it into practice. Right now the penalty is 5 seconds for every pylon you miss. The penalty can be easily adjusted as needed. If anyone tests this please try to test the following scenarios: 1. Flying the course perfectly 2. Taking a shortcut or 2 3. Passing through any pylon more than once a lap. You must pass through the "race reset" button for additional races. Nate, if this works out well it will be pretty easy to add additional pylons and only be slightly tedious to add additional aircraft slots. :) I tested it today it seems to work pretty good! 1. I had a penality message (just one) i thought it was perfect, i guess it was not ;) 2. penality for missing gates worked 3. penality for to many gates worked I was solo but i'll try with mates this week if i can. Sammi79
:helpsmilie:I see someone had my idea before me... I shall take a look at these files and see how you approached it. I went with zones for gates to be activated in order, and I have a mission 75% complete for 8xP51Ds, 15 gates etc. The problem I have is it is taking a long time to create 400+ triggers but I have done most and testing it is working well. I made it so each aircraft uses 3 flags, 1 lap counter, 1 gate counter and 1 penalty counter. If you miss a gate in sequence it adds to the penalty counter, if you miss more than 1 in sequence (or go back to the previous gate) or miss more than 5 individual gates it disqualifies you. It is fairly straight forward to change these rules and lap numbers etc. to suit. Also it is easy to make new courses as you just drag the gate zones around. Adding more gates requires a load more (24per gate) triggers to be carefully added though. I did manage to g-loc my pilot to death while testing which was pretty crazy. I created ground objects to be destroyed by triggers to mark events (like disqualification or race finish and position) so you get a rough time of events in the log afterwards. I am still brainaching about how to apply time penalties, my idea was to use 'time since flag' conditions to decrement the penalty counter after the race finish, before the ground object is destroyed to mark the time+penalty of the finish and thus race position. I will post it here when it is more complete. Regards, Sam. Ali Fish
http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1446063&postcount=19 This version should do it, however it hasn't been thoroughly tested, thus its been uploaded for everyone to tryout. Sadly nobody has really provided any feedback on whether or not it works. ive been testing this today however theres no way in a month of fridays i can actually fly that course. so i edited the tracks for something a bit more simple, like nascar. hope that is ok ? whilst i have only been in the server on my own doing it, all seems to be good ! when i cross finish it tells next guy i got x amount of penalties. does the system youve made require more than 1 to trigger the fireworks or end of race etc, how does that go exactly ? also i see previous guy states he gets message upon error, i only get it at the end, i realise my editing may have corrupted somthing as im not familiar with triggers and stuff, etc i did simply move the towers and corresponding trigger areas only. conceptually i think to view 1 set of inner pylons for a circular course would be better. and leave the pilots room for safetys consideration Edited May 11, 2012 by Ali Fish [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Ali Fish
haha ok fair nuff. but but but, i prefer the essence of precision speed controll under the influence of needing to go faster. btw how much will prop wash affect the racing situations. will we have a slipstream style effect eventually? im really into this racing, please make some scenery content for it.
