Nate--IRL--
Hey, this is a very active thread, and i have not read all 64 pages of it, so it this has already been answered, please point me to the right post. I wonder about the nature of this add on, is it a FSX like "aircraft only" add on which provides the airframe and documentation only, or is there going to be extra content.. missions, challenges, maybe even a campaign? If so, what is planned for that? If not, since most of using the P51D will probably be flying around, will there be improvements in AI airspace handling and proper ATC and procedures? Thanks in advance, Madog It is too early to comment on features, at present it is the aircraft in DCS. As for other stuff I can't say because I don't know, but I'd be very surprised if there weren't stuff to do included - I personally hope to complete something to be included for release myself. tflash
I remember in the beginning of Flaming cliffs we got performance charts comparing the turn performance of A-10A and Su-25. I wonder about the performance comparison between A-10C and P-51. Wikpedia gives them about the same speed, but I bet the Hog can't keep up with this noble horse? And turn performance? I feel some incredible dogfights are in the making ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos
The P-51 is a 12000lbs aircraft. It turns on a dime, too. Laud
...gosh, imagine the furor if ED announce the next DCS vehicle isn't even an aircraft :P ...oh that's right, combined arms.. ED are thinking outside of the box, and you guys should as well when imagining what might be coming from DCS.... It's always been envisioned as a "total battlefield" simulation experience...why get hung up on whether its a fast jet with buttons and screens or a WWII fighter with cable based flight systems and a MAD tendancy to try and kill you. Its a battlefield simulation full stop...next could be anything on the battlefield, sea air or land. So far so good, but a battlefield simulator with mixed units from 80 years of history is somehow strange don't you think? Just to be clear: I'm totally Ok with the Mustang and everything that will follow it from this era, but when it comes to further modules like ground vehicles, ships, maybe even soldiers, it would generate the biggest benefit, if they were from about the same decade! ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F Gaming, Intel Core i7 9700k , 32gb Corsair DDR4-3200 Asus RTX 2070 super, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M2, Win10 64bit, Acer XZ321QU (WQHD) TM HOTAS Warthog, SAITEK Rudder Pedals, TIR

Tailgate
I used to fly Janes WWII Fights until recently. Loved recreating the Battle of the Bulge scenarios with massive Tank battles. It was fun taking my P-47 down for some really close, close air support.

Bucic
Doesn't really float my boat this - what are you going to do with it? Take off, fly around a bit (to do what?), land and then never use it again. This will be interesting. VincentLaw
Obligatory cheer for the new aircraft announcement. Honestly I was hoping for something like an F4U Corsair, but that wouldn't be complete without an Essex, Midway, or Yorktown. That makes the P-51D more cost effective entertainment. (On second thought, not to discourage the devs, the Carl Vinson and Admiral Kuznetsov will do just fine.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
