THanks for the update

Not 100% sure I like the direction the newsletter is going with the inclusion of 'free' patches and 'paid-for-addons'

But heck any news is good news... Just hoping we don't have to start paying for every new skin and feature added (ala modern warfare series)

@EtherealN:

the only Nevada I know of is the one in USA, so are you saying theres a code name being used to make a Nevada map but not Nevada USA?

If that's not the map we tested in the A10c beta version what was that? It was a map?

It was Nevada, are you saying you have recoded it to work with DCS engine?

If that's it, then that's the same Nevada map in a since thats it's Nevada USA.

I'm confused already (not the same map):pilotfly:

DCS: Renault Nevada.

I'm sure you know what I mean. :)

The Nevada map in the beta used the old terrain engine and began as a 3rd party effort. The Nevada talked about here is using a new and improved terrain engine and is developed directly by the ED office in Minsk, with input from some of the people involved in the original Nevada map.

Can someone enlighten me on combined arms. Will I be able to pilot an A10 or a KA50 against ground units that are being commanded by a real person? That would be most excellent!!

Fairly sure of that. As well as being guided in by a real person too. I need this.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

News are... hmm, NEWS?

I don't see why people are flaming ED for sending out a Newsletter that simply put, has "news" aka "information" in it.

I really like a newsletter that in a compact form puts all updates on the roadmap together, so I don't need to monitor the forum all the time (not that I do it anyway:music_whistling:).

At the late months I saw lots of people nagging and asking for information about this and that, complaining about why ED is doing things in parallel rather then focus on their "favorite" Module. Bottom line some people will never be happy or satisfied...:smilewink:

Let's face it: Developing Simulations is a huge effort, takes immense ressources from research, to programming, to testing, to bug fixing etc.

Everything we get that is bug free, and accurate is x-times better than playstation-controller compatible HAWX-Crap that is "easy accessible" for maximizing revenue.

I appreciate two things ED is doing: First they do quality stuff, before pushing obscure release dates to max out sales (e.g. no bugged, quick and dirty Nevada release for Christmas).

Second, we may disagree on pricing strategies, but when I compare any ED title or Add-On to "normal" releases, or some cinema tickets, or a MS FlightSim Add-On, the pricing is more than reasonable, don't you think?

So calm down and appreciate what we get delivered. Or as is a common phrase on this forum: "It's done when it's done!"

Merry Christmas and an exiting year 2012 with lots of Add-Ons, new Maps and new planes :xmas:

Let me ummmm re-phrase then Eth and this is not meant to start a flame war or anything it's just a plain and simple comment 18 months just seems like a long time even though we know (95% lol) that it will be worth it.

I like the news letter format, it's nice getting an email with this info in it. Means you don't have to sift through as many complaints sometimes ;) (sorry complainers, no offense..Merry Christmas).

It's nice to know when to expect Nevada now, there are a lot of cool things going on with ED between now and the summer so given I have two of the most complex sims I'm still mastering, there's lots to do between now and summer 2012.

Managed to get BS 2 on sale as well...w00t!

I am sure that the ED team must sometimes empathise with the views of the last 30 seconds of this Billy Connolly skit!

Summer... Nevada.... summer???

At this point, I am sure that it's taking this long, because they are working on the capability that after long flight hours, we will be able to land on the strip, and hop out of the canopy, and walk to the nearest casino, where we can meet with other pilots on break and have a game of blackjack.

Id expect nothing less.

Does anyone know what the flying legends sim entails? Is it like an retro aircraft (eg 1940-1950s) or is a support aircraft of some sort?

Thanks for posting this. I realised that ED emails were blocked by Gmail's spam blocker. Joy.

I can't wait for new exciting things in 2012 from ED.

I was surprised to find I'm the only complainer on the forum, I feel all alone.

Your problem is that you assumed that the newsletter was exclusively meant for people who hang out daily on this forum. It wasn't. In fact, the portion of ED customers who even have an account here is miniscule, and the newsletter is a way to get the word out to that majority.

I'm looking forward to the combined arms add-on. JTAC role will be definetly interesting (I suspect it may become boring after a few sessions tho :music_whistling:), but I'd also appreciate a bit more detail on the particulars of the proposed resource management system.

Also, will Combined Arms be a fully external module with a stand-alone .exe, or will it be run from within A10, BS2 or FC3?

I'll buy it anyhow but still it'd be nice to know...
