AdA Mod V2.0 for FC2

Good evening.

As usual in the world of IT projects, the initially scheduled development time has been multiplied per Pi to obtain the final result (x 3.14...).

The requirement level of our testers, the amount of 3D models and skins, the new possibilities available with FC2 (compared to FC1), never stopped to increase our workload to finish the project. The more we did, the more remained to be done.

To see the greatest aircrafts of the world fly in FC2 eventually took 4 years of development, thousands hours of modeling, skinning, integrating, coding, documenting, testing, brainstorming phone calls and hundreds of Coca Light bottles (yes, AdA Mod dev team does not drink coffees and try to take care of their health).

Thus, we are extremely happy to (finally) announce the mod release for December 2011.

In order to wait until then here follows the ReadMe of the mod:

---- Introduction ----

The AdA Mod 2(000) is a mod for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 2 that modifies and improves the original content with the integration of the main combat aircrafts in use in the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air, AdA) and French Navy (Marine Nationale) for the last 20 years.

As usual in the world of informatics projects, the initially scheduled development time has been multiplied per Pi to obtain the final result (x 3.14...).

Thus, we are extremely happy to (finally) deliver the mod that absorbed a big part of our free time, and to be able to thank our entourage for the patience and the support they gave us, testers for their help and their implication without fault, modders for their eagerness and their love of work well done, and in particular BarbsMan, which evening after evening has found the motivation and the talent to cut the road with his laser sabre.

Do not hesitate to take a look on our forum (http://www.ada-mod.org/forum) or on C6 forums (http://www.checksix-forums.com) to share your remarks and suggestions.

To exchange is one of the great joys of impassioned voluntaries !

---- Installation / Disclaimer ----

Use ModMan to install this mod (if you don't know what is ModMan, see http://www.checksix-forums.com/showthread.php?t=128731)

But, first of all, backup your whole lockon directory. Things are not supposed to go wrong, but you never know what could happen. With a backup, if your installation becomes screwed up, you just have to erase the corrupted directory and rename your backup with the name of the directory you just deleted.

Anyway, use the mod at your own risk ! :)

---- Problems / limitations / known issues ----

- AdA Mod is not OnLine compatible with players which does not have the mod. This is due to modification/integration of new weapons.

- We had to get rid of the stock afterburner cones : we could not modify the way they were displayed and, depending of the underlying original aircraft, we could find reheat not correctly placed in relation to the engines.

In a similar vein - the contrails, hydraulic leaks... etc. are displayed according to the underlying original aircraft and may appear slightly offset or doubled.

- Cockpit sounds have been replaced by AdA Mod sounds. No more Betty's suave voice, no more for "Pbredegne attakie..." and others Slavic joys.

Welcome in the cricket world :)

- Strobes & beacons lights only wok for "others" (IA & other clients), never on the player's own aircraft (in solo or multiplayer).

---- Many thanks to ----

- to Az', Big Master of Quality Control, lights specialist, for having buried us under a mountain of screenshots, of various bug reports, his enormous work of tests and corrections, his intransigence and his desire for polishing all the little details.

- to Pink_Tigrou, for his splendid Rafale, without which the AdAMod would not be what it is. Thanks for his talent, his dynamism and the hours he spent to shape the polygons.

- to Cpt_Stark, for being with us since AdAMod v1 and in particular for the registrations of the aircrafts : all are real and were indeed used at a given period. This historical heart of the AdA Mod, it's him.

- to Oxitom, for his skins, and especially for the tail markings : if you can brag with your markings, that's thanks to Oxi, his talent in skinning and his control of the weathering.

- to MajorBug, for many pieces of advice, his infallible knowledge of Lockon and some brilliant ideas: condensation, night reheat, far visibility of position lights… He made possible to push back what we believed being the limits of the modding under FC. Thanks to have shared with us his expertise throughout the creation of the MOD.

- to Woodman, for his support without fault, his many tests, his relevant remarks and his presence.

- to the beta testers, Woodman, Azrayen', Cpt Stark, Rafal, Romaniak, MajorBug, Shark971, Harms, Pouka, Necron, Cougar133, Luzi, Blaze, Virus for all their help and support. Their work was not all fun and games, but they stuck to the task.

- to BPao. He was really a great person. His death has affected all of us. He was the original creator of a lot of 3D models included in our mod (Jaguar A, E-3, C-135FR, F-5, MiG-21, Boeing 707). His generosity and his kindness will not be forgotten. RIP.

- to Topolo, for his documentation on French Aircrafts flight models.

- to Knell, for letting us including his beautiful Mirage F1 and Mirage IV models.

- to Michelange, for the standardisation work for Adding new countries in FC2.

- to Duderino and DaDa, original templates / skin makers of the Mirage F1 and Mirage IV.

- to Skypat, father of the magic Modman software.

- to Dobberman & Bensky, to have organized one of the most extraordinary visits of our lives. The heat of their reception, their passion, their competence (and their patience in the case of the interminable description of the Mirage 2000) really touched us. Within this time when the materials are proposed always, one forgets a little the men, whereas their value and their engagement are determining as much. Thank you, this day VIP was incredible!

- to Tigrou (the *real* pilot), for his reception on the homebase of the Rafale beast, and his great kindness. He had allowed Tigrou (our modeller) to add a lot of details on the Rafale.

- To anyone we forgot : do not hesitate to contact us and help us to correct this mistake by giving us a link to your website or a way to get in touch with you.

Finally a detailed update about how this project is progressing, thank you for the heads up BarbsMan.

Is the Super 530D the only added air to air missile ? what about MICA and MAGIC 2 as in FC1 version...

Could you please also specify which cockpit for which aircraft ?

I hope this mod gets clearance for public MP servers like in FC1 days where MICA EM was the AMRAAM/R-77 counterpart, same for MICA IR going against R-27ET or even Magic2 for R-73/AIM-9...This would close the gap between French and International MP communities.

Tres bon travail, bravo a toute l'equipe de developpement !

Hi

Is the Super 530D the only added air to air missile ? what about MICA and MAGIC 2 as in FC1 version...

The stock models from LO are pretty good, we didn't replace them.

Could you please also specify which cockpit for which aircraft ?

More details to come soon, but cockpits are the same as in the AdA v1, no more work on this part was included for the v2.

I'm afraid this will no more be possible, due to the extensive range of modifications included (in particular the weapons mods & flight models tuning => Integrity Check fail).

On the other hand, the stock aircrafts remain available in AdA v2 (except the Su-30), so you can have a dogfight between a MiG-29 and a Mirage 2000 :)

Tres bon travail, bravo a toute l'equipe de developpement !

Merci !! :) :)

Sounds very exciting !!!! Any pics or previews?

Pouka posted a link, and more is to come (really) soon. Stay tuned ;)

Cheers

Thanks Azrayen for all the feedback! My biggest wish is to see this mod approved in main servers...am not sure at what extent you guys have edited the FM and the weapons characteristics but I believe all the modification must have been based on reliable data. Some mods have been well accepted in public servers and I do wish the same for this mod. Hopefully testers from these servers would have a look at ADA and decide afterwards, with a little bit of luck we may end up flying all together everyone riding his favorite beast :) Eyes locked on December 2011!
