This FC 1.1 Installing ERROR CODE 3 is a pain ,HELP !!!

:icon_jook HEY Guys

This error code 3 that happens when trying to install FC 1.1 is a real PAIN and I can't say it enough and I thing it needs to be addressed .:icon_roll

I've tried reinstalling both Lock On as 1.0 and with 1.02 update, and reinstalling the FC 1.1 on both lock On 1.0 and 1.02 more then 5 times already and the same go's redownloading FC 1.1 from both mirror 1 and 2 from the site and I get the same ERROR CODE 3.:icon_evil

and I'm not the only one out here with the same problem.:rolleyes:

I know the community has some great minds out there and I know I need the HELP !!!!!!:icon_jook

If anything point me to where I need to take this to in ED support team:confused: because

I don't know????????????

Really NEED TO KNOW WHAT THIS ERROR CODE 3 IS AND WHY IT's BEING GIVEN AND FOR WHAT REASON ??????????????????????????:rolleyes: :confused: :icon_evil

I prepared the FC installation this way:

 

New OS set up (Win2K , SP4)

System drivers installed (Mainboard, Video card, sound..)

DirectX9.0c installed

Lock On 1.00 from original CD installed, nothing added, not even started !

Lock On FC 1.1 setup from CD started (I saved the download file on CD before, of course)

 

FC 1.1 starts installation in the same folder than LockOn was installed, but stops with error message "error number 3" after 30 secs or so.

 

What's the probem here ? Any help from ED ????

 

My system:

MSI K8N Neo FSR NForce 3

AMD Athlon 64 3000+

1 GB DDR Ram

Leadtek GF 6600 GT 128 MB

Win2K SP 4

1- Was it be4 u reinstalled OS,MB,VC,SC,DX9.oc,Lock On and FC 1.1

2-And if so Did u Have Anti-Virus,an SpywareBlocker or something like it

when u downloaded FC 1.1 to CD

3-and did u have Copy Programs like Roxio,Nero,Ghost!!!!!

Because I'm Wondering if these may have something to do with this DAMN ERROR CODE 3 ???????

Error Code 3 - solution (at least it worked for me)

 

I followed that advice and downloaded FC 1.1 once again, safed it on another partition of my PC and installed it over a clean version of LOMAC 1.00. It worked right from scratch.

 

Installation key code hasn't change btw.

 

The second downloaded file had exactly the same size, however I now think, that the first download must have been corrupted somehow...

 

Anyway, installation and activation (automatic mode) worked fine.

1- First I prepared a seperate partition exclusively for LOMAC, installed OS clean, then MB drivers, then Grafix driver, then enabled Internet access by using Windows connection assistant, then I installed DirectX9.0c, then LOMAC 1.00 clean and didn't even start it. Last I downloaded FC 1.1 and installed that over LOMAC 1.00.

2- I have Norton Antivir 2004 running all the time, no negative effect

3 - On my working OS / other partition, yes I have Nero installed. On my LOMAC partition / OS, no nuttin else except Norton Antivir.

 

I suggest that you prepare a seperate partition with a seperate OS for LOMAC / FC, so Starforce will never know about any other software such as Roxio...

Guys, it's best to keep ONE problem in ONE thread instead of making a thread each time you think you don't get enough replies!

My guess would be that during the FC install, it may be making some directories Read-Only. If your download was corrupt and the install fails, it would probably be a good idea to make sure you delete the old FC directory before attempting a re-install with a good download.
