CrazyD
I'd like to be able to lower the exterior (F2) view while on the ground, so that the point of view is at ground level. Anyone know how to set this?
JDski
I only think you can go so low with the view while on the ground, but you can use the mouse or hat to move the view around unless you changed those from default..
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted February 13, 2009 ED Team Share Posted February 13, 2009 Wrong. Go to this folder: ...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View and open up "server.lua" in notepad or something. Look for the line called: CameraTerrainRestriction = true <------ change that to "FALSE" and save it. Now the camera can actually go through the ground, and you can now have the camera as low as you wish :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
Rhino4
I thought we couldn't use notepad to edit lua files or they would be corrupted? Someone said we had to use notepad++?

CrazyD
I followed the suggestion, and viola! Now I can take ground-level screenshots and be able to see up close to the helicopter from below to check on skinning details. I know I could have it in the air and do the same, but well, when I post pics of the finished skin, looks way cool from that viewpoint, lol. ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted February 14, 2009 ED Team Share Posted February 14, 2009 Well, i dont use notepad++ or whatever (unless this is default with vista 64?) and it works here :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
crazysundog
No, it is not default with Vista64, it is freeware i believe... There are a couple files i've edited with notepad, this being one of them, but for the majority i use N++
CrazyD
Ok, one more question regarding view altering - I'd like to be able to get really close up to the helicopter for screenshot purposes - seems you can only get so close then if moving the mouse bumps you back. Can this be changed?
crazysundog
Hold CNTL and zoom in out for close up stuff.
CrazyD
Crazysundog - you are the master. Not only that, I went and looked up my Key Command List (obtained right from the DCS forums by someone), and found I can slew camera viewpoint so that the camera can rotate, pivot and otherwise focus within "virtual millimeters" on any rivet, panel or spot on the helicopter. Awesome.
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted February 15, 2009 ED Team Share Posted February 15, 2009 Or, just use the CTRL-F11 cam, and move the camera as close as you want to the chopper. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
crazysundog
I programmed a macro with 'CNTL-F11' and immediately after 'NumPad-.' (decimal) so that my 'drop cam' will imediately lock onto whatever vehicle i've been viewing. 'Alt-F2' is also a handy view.... personally, I have a X52 setup just for camera viewing!!
