Sorry, if this has already been discussed..

 

but I suppose when the FC 2.0 comes out, and those with both LO:FC plus Black Shark will still be able to use this, if whoever made it can upgrade the code?

The mission file format is different in BS (FC2) compared to FC1.1.2.

 

In BS the mission is a zip compressed set of LUA files.

 

In FC1.1.2 the mission is an XML file with some (undocumented) binary pieces thrown in at certain byte offsets (yukk!!). DoctorK was a master for figuring out where those binary chunks where and how to modify them.

 

In summary, this mission generator will not work without a lot of modification.

However, new BS mission format is much more open and easy to work with, don't you agree? So, such a guy like DoctorK can adapt his wonderful program to it, I have no doubt :)

 

The BS format is more powerful and open for sure, not easier to deal with. With XML there are a lot of libraries you can use to parse the structure. With the LUA code it requires a lot more work. I'm not saying the LUA mission format is worse, because I like the new openness, it is just that it is more work to deal with.

Well I just hope that DoctorK will create a new RamGEN for FC 2.0. Because generally the whole lockon series is lacking good campaigns. Where you can download hundreds of campaigns for Il2 - for LOMAC there are maybe some tens campaigns and only a few of them are really worth it. With FC 2.0 and triggers and other randomization factors even the current RamGEN missions would be a blast to fly.

You just know I had to bump this. DoctorK, you gonna get FC 2.0 and work your magic? As it is, FC 2.0 is great but woefully lacking in the missions and campaigns dept. And updated version of your generator combined with all the tricks that the new mission designer has could create some great random and dynamic missions!

FYI: I'm working on a dynamic campaign generator (in Java). Will take a few months to complete. Currently modifying my FC1 post-battle analysis (which will be used for stats on the 104th server).

Yes, for DCS (BlackShark, FC2, Warthog if the format isn't changed too much). Unfortunately it is a large effort so is taking a while. But I am steadily working on it. It's a bit like a Pantene hair shampoo ad on TV, "It won't happen overnight, but it will happen".

I really hope DoctorK may want to complete it and code in the Multiplayer extension to generate coop missions for you and your online buddies. I know many MP guys who'd like to try FC1 online before they decide to transit to the latest FC2 release. This smart add-on makes flying and fighting in Flaming Cliffs quite easy and sensible game wise, particularly when you start watching how the front line on the map moves based on your performance.

The best mod for LO FC!

 

Me again, excuse me for the followed posts.

 

The version 1.03 works flawless here. No problems with pilots logbooks.

 

But i come back here to say that this is one of the best mods for Lo FC1.x for sure!! After played a "entire dynamic campaign"....

 

The mission generator part creates the best generated missions out there. Even better than the majority of the manually made ones!

The interface is ellegant and clean, a lot of options to you adjust the generate mission dificulty, weather, skins and a lot of others small but important things.

 

Then comes the bonus, the "dynamic campaign". For first, it´s the unique one for Lomac series! Second, it is really good! God, DoctorK, you made it!:thumbup:

 

The (campaign) missions have a lot of ground and air units - and note - they are note just put there - they have their duties, flight plains, targets and so on! Have the necessary 2 sides (well, it´s a war, danmm! :P), it´s aligiances, the dynamic borde, long an short flights, escorts&sead flights in your operational area,...all minimum things that a DC needs to have.

 

Isn´t a TAW dynamic campaign, ok... lomac have a lot of limitations on it´s engine to we built a very good Dynamic Campaign as it is now. But RaMGen really works!

 

Well, stop to read this! download and use RaMGen yourself and you will have a fresh new game with a lot more replayability now!
