now that its been more or less "verified"...It must also be said that the the % of performance loss is relevant to the system specs...its NOT just a 10-15 %..its much more. In these last so called updates I've gone from 50 fps in the cockpit to 30(jet) and 40 to 25 in helo's. That's more than 10-15%.

Relative how? Like worse for "high" end and less worse for lower end specs?

I seem to have gotten mine back to "normal".

At 90Hz: I had to dial back SVRSS to 60% from my previous 80-100% (I ran tree heavy maps at 80 and Nevada at 100) both at 4x MSAA with motion smoothing enable and maintain 45 fps/15-7 GPU frametimes.

I decided to try setting WMR to 60Hz, and while yes there is a slight flicker in the sky, I've gotten used to it. Hardly even notice it now.

I can run my usual "High" in game settings, SVRSS 80%, NO motion smoothing (and no stutter), solid 60fps 10-15ms GPU frametimes.

Very enjoyable flight experience, readable cockpits, ZERO stutter.

I am running 1.2 Open FSR at .77, 0 sharpen. Reshade mod and the following other mods.

Youve mde changes to reduce the impact of a performance drop. Thats not getting it back to normal. Its just compesating.

This is not the point of this tread  and your post is misleading. With heavy tweaking and modding the whole sim upside down and give impression that you fixed it.

I assume we have established that the issue hits lower end systems harder than high-end systems. Since the fps drop is not strictly proportional to the baseline fps my guess is, that there was introduced some „bottleneck“ kind of problem and how much fps you loose depends on how relevant this bottleneck is to your system.

Didn't at all say I "fixed" it. What I did is find a way for me to enjoy flying with no stutter and readable clarity. Something to do until there is an actual fix.

Sorry if I prefer to not add to the ED dogpiling.

Or to put it simply...they introduced a feature/code/enhancement that took a system that ran 50 fps to a 30 fps...however way you cut it it was THEY who caused the issue, not us...and I expect them to fix it on their end and not me having to go out and spend another (and I've done this twice now) large sum of money to run the same way I ran years ago on the same modules purchased.

Pointing out to an introduced problem (which you also encountered) is not really dogpiling.
You just changed settings "outside" DCS to get it back to an enjoyable level. I don't call that a solution, just some sort of workaround to get you playing again (which is OK for the time being, just don't let loose of the rope, because you'll loose in the end if you do).

@Hiob I now tried it as well, and renamed the directory dcs.openbeta from Saved Games - which is then re-created. After setting up the right settings, and running my track, I have still my reduced framerate.

As I said, I can’t reproduce it anymore neither. Probably had some messed up settings in the first place or screwed up something else. Sorry guys!

I got back my fps after creating a new DCS file in the "saved games".

I don't know why it's happened...

THIS^^ should actually now be the title for this thread!

Yup sorry for the confusion - "I got some frames (not all) back after creating a new saved games file and ....oh....theyve suddenly gone again for no reason " would probably be better.

i think this one of the reasons ED finds it so difficult to diagnose and replicate...

@BIGNEWY one thing i noticed that was different in your nvidia config, was the shader cache size... thats the only substantive difference? mine was set on driver default.. i have changed it to 10GB as yours and if i get a chance i will test it today ..

so as you increase the quality of the shadow from None to Flat  to Default performance decreases.

I can confirm the same from my experience albeit not as scientifically. Be it shadows, view distances, textures. All goes as expected, with progressive reductions in performance as the quality increases.
