Thank you. I don't see anything abnormal. It looks like the updater cannot find the drive the game is installed on... yet I see your game is installed on your system drive (C:\).

I have no idea at the moment. Please open a support ticket.

Just a thought: you don't use NTFS junction in your computer, do you?

Hello Flappie.

No I don't use NTFS junction.

Yesterday i couldn't accessed to the page of Eagle dynamics forum. I believied that was a Eagle dynamics problem. But advising by a friend, i tried an acess with my computer using 4g smartphone (not my local network). And it was working. I tried a repair command for my dcs installation. And it was working. We déduced that my update problem came from my internet box. I reseted it. "Abracadabra". All updating and access forum problem were solved.

Thanks flappie for your help.

Dear Flappie,

I tried this procedure (as stated in another thread you aleardy know), but it was unsuccessful.

Also trying to repair my installation was a failure. And opening a support ticket is impossible for me, for those reasons you already know.

I just don't know what to do at this point.

Any (new?) suggestions, please?

With best regards.

Good morning, dear Flappie, sorry for the delay I'm answering.

Thanks for this detail, I didn't know I had to search for it in that location. Unfortunately, I found nothing also there.

But the same I'm sending that temporary log I got in response a minute ago after my last attempt, hoping that it could be anyway useful. I just don't know how could I help you otherwise, sorry for that.

Thanks for your attention and patience with me, with best regards.

I'll do.

Thanks a lot to you too, BIGNEWY.

Update: I did also this one. I ran it with adimistrator's privileges, to stay on the safe side. Unfortunately, no success, also this tip didn't work.

I just don't know what should I do about nor to fix this issue... apart from waiting the next update to come and keeping my fingers well crossed, hoping in a better luck, maybe?

Just weird. Never occurred to me anything like before, I repeat.

With best regards.

Dear BIGNEWY,

it's me again.

Nothing has changed for good also when attempting to download the latest update, clear sign that the ordinary way of updating has ceased, in my sae at least, to work at a sudden.

Please be kind and help me: is there an alternative way to get even of this annoying issue, please?

Thanks for your patience, and with best regards.

If you haven't already, please remove admin rights to your DCS_update.exe file.

Do you have a program called Bitrix installed on your PC? If so, please close it before updating DCS.

Thanks a lot, dear floppie, I'll do it right away... and what is that Bitrix? Never realized anything about it before.

I'm going to get rid of that now.

Update: done. Both of two. Unfortunately, I got the same (negative) result. And now?

With best regards.

Good morning, dear flappie.

Here it is... and thanks a lot for your great patience with me and those weird issues I'm experiencing.

Almost needless to say that also my previous attempts to repair in any way my istallations failed for that same reason, and that I' am really afraid that the same will happen if I would try a new installation.

With best regards.

You're welcome. 😀

I see there's still a problem, indeed. Let's see the details.

First, the updater logs what follows into "autoupdate_templog.txt", and all seems to go very well:

00024.682 --- Log file: C:\Users\Gianni\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta\autoupdate_templog.txt
00000.000 === Log opened UTC 2021-10-24 09:53:56

00026.736 STATUS: Got YES
00026.737 STATUS: Waiting for operation to complete...

(I removed the DEBUG lines for clarity)

We can see the updater detects a new version and is greenlighted to start downloading ("Got YES").

Let's call the above "Step 0". Step 0 is successful.

From what I understand, the "Waiting for operation to complete..." line should be immediately followed by:

  1. the renaming of your "G:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\autoupdate_log.txt" file into "autoupdate_log_old.txt".
  2. the creation of a new "autoupdate_log.txt".
  3. the downloading process (logged into autoupdate_log.txt)
  4. the updating process (loged into autoupdate_log.txt)

Although the error 1460 message disappeared, we know your updater keeps getting stuck at Step 1 since your "autoupdate_log.txt" is an old file (2021-09-20).

Now, let's get back to your  "autoupdate_templog.txt" file. At the end of the update process, it logs the resulting version of DCS. Let's call it Step 5.

We can see below your DCS doesn't get updated (it should read "2.7.7.14727" instead of "2.7.6.12852"):

00046.882 INFO : DCS/2.7.6.12852 (x86_64; EN; WORLD,HEATBLUR_F-14,FA-18C,RAZBAM_AV8BNA,RAZBAM_M-2000C,A-10C,FC3,CA,BALTICDRAGON_M2000C-REDFLAG_campaign,AJS37-REDFLAG_campaign,A10C-REDFLAG_campaign,F15C-REDFLAG_campaign,BALTICDRAGON_A10C-ENEMY_WITHIN_campaign,PERSIANGULF_terrain,NEVADA_terrain,SU-33,SU-27,KA-50,UH-1H,SUPERCARRIER,AJS37,SYRIA_terrain,A-10C_2,F-16C,BUNYAP_CAMPAIGNS_F16C_RED_FLAG_21_1_campaign,MARIANAISLANDS_terrain)
00046.883 INFO : branch: openbeta
00046.907 === Log closed.

As you can see, 20 seconds separate the "Waiting for operation to complete..." line from Step 0 and the "INFO : DCS/2.7.6.12852" from step 5.

Yet these 20 seconds are not logged into your "autoupdate_log.txt" file...

Good morning, dear flappie.

Thanks for your clear explanation.

Apart from the question "Why is this happening just now, when all the likes went out fine until a month ago", well, you can believe me or not on that, but I failed to open a ticket - I only got a useless silly FAQ answers in return, but no choices to do that instead.

I could take this only as a clear sign of avoiding any user to put questions on anything, even if those guys who created this "system" felt a little too much self-esteemed  - don't know if you mean.

I am going to become a little more than disappointed by that, you know, especially if I think to all the time and the lot of money spent in this "simulation" - I purchased quite a bit of modules and campaigns here, you know. But I will make one more attempt, and I will see what kind of initiative to take about further.

Thanks for all and your time, and have a nice day.

Just two thoughts.

In the first Log you provided DCS was installed on C:\. On the last report it's installed on G:\? Do you have multiple installation (maybe old unused installations or some wierd virtual links for saving some space on a SSD?). Do you have a DCS Tech Savvy friend who might could take a look at your installation of DCS via a remote tool?

Did you try Skazilla's Updater GUI? While it starts the same updater, you can see all available servers on a quick glance. Your ISP / Router Config might block some Servers from Russia?
