The 11900K is currently the fastest CPU for DCS - you can buy pre-tested ones from Silicon Lottery that have been verified to overclock to certain levels. I got one that sits on 5.2GHz on 4 cores, but drops to 5.1GHz on all 8.

I heard many times that DCS only uses one core with maybe another one for sound. But my task manager shows all four of my cores fully loaded upto 100% when I fly DCS. What am I missing? Btw, also waiting for Alder Lake and DDR5 to upgrade.

I'd like to upgrade from my 7700K@5ghz to Alder Lake. But there's a lot that remains to be seen. Is the rumoured 20% IPC gain real? If it is that means about 40-50% more IPC over my 7700k. But how much good will that do for DCS? Can I get a mobo that accepts both DDR4 (to use my current ram) and DDR5 (so I can upgrade memory later when it is cheaper). How much will using DDR4 hold back the new cpu? How good will Win11 task scheduling be?

As always, bait for wenchmarks.

Any thoughts on getting an Intel 10 series cpu, I was considering a i5-10600KF?

Is more than 6 physical cores even useful for flightsims?

It doesen't matter if it's for flight sims or other games. Every game that is multicore capable will benefit from additional cores. Most games benefit from a 8 core CPU. Cyberpunk 2077 is, afaik, right now the only game that takes advantage of more than 8 cores and benefits from 10, 12 or 16 core CPUs. It's just that DCS is not multicore capable and uses only one core anyways. As stated already above, if it's DCS only aim for the highest singlecore performance you can afford.
