ED thinking about changing HDRI?

Recommended Posts

Hello to everyone. As we know ED brought the Dynamic cloud system. but we have a problem. ED still doesn't talk about HDRI, which bothers me a little. Because if HDRI changes, I think both graphics and reflections and errors in sunset and sunrise will disappear. Especially the fact that the high clouds are still pixelated and old affects the image a lot. I would be very happy if they thought about it because this is a big update required after the cloud update. He has a very old HDRI and we see that when we look at the morning and night time.

I'm going to have a guess that you don't actually mean HDRI, rather the skydome/Sun/atmospheric setup. You cannot use a HDRI skydome for games that have a complete day/night yearly cycle. To do that with HDRI's you'd need thousands of images.. I'm not 100% sure why the high level clouds didn't get removed/upgraded with the new cloud system but it could be because ED want to do a separate system for that.

These skybox's below are procedural based off of two popular sky model

If anyone want's to get really nerdy on this topic then you can read these two papers 😄

Is correct. I mean the problems at sunset and sunrise
