black screen after todays update to DCS OB 2.7.1.6430

After todays update to DCS OB verion 2.7.1.6430 i'm unable to start DCS anymore. Double click on the DCS icon -> the little splash screen appears -> switching to full screen(borderless window) all i see is a black screen and no activity in the taskmanager for DCS anymore. Before todays update i had no issues with DCS.

I did

- delete the fxo/metashader2 folderds

- the user/appdata/local/temp/dcs.openbeta folder

- run a repair(slow) with checking for additional files

 

I don't use any mods, dcs.log attached, lots of loading failures and an Alert to init the GUI. DCS is on my AV whitelist.

probably a mod or edit somewhere?

 

try a slow repair and rename your saved games dcs folder, keep it as a backup

 

restart dcs and test

I'm seeing the same - although I don't get a black screen. Just the splash page for a minute or 2, then it disappears & there's no sign of it in the task manager. In process of doing slow repair now

make sure all unofficial mods have been removed before updating or repairing

Like i said in my first post, i don't use any mods, no lua config editing....and already did a slow repair, which said everything is fine. I will rename my saved games folder now.

Same here actually the Stable / Steam is running still and the OB just starts and disappears. Thats why I will keep the Steam as Stable as long as possible....

I could solve the problem for me by deleting the "C:\Users\your_name_here\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\options.lua" file. After that DCS started and asked for my login information and started normally, could click on my graphics preset to load them again, changed the game options(no labels...) and it looks like everything works again.

...sometimes I wonder how they manage to fix 1 thing and break 3 on the way - but I think this is simply due to lack in testing - we are the testers... (Firing up the stable steam version that still runs without issues)

Thats the nature of the beast(Beta), seeing there are not hundreds of people complaining about the same problem here it looks like it's not a very common problem. Do you use steam open beta or standalone open beta, does deleting the options.lua help you or do you still have the problem?

 

I would be more interested what is in the options.lua that caused the problem for me...

Unfortunately deleting the options.lua did not work on my end. Even more unfortunately my lunch break is over so I must return to languishing away at work. Will get back to tinkering this evening

Actually this is not a solution but a workaround for the mess the devs introduced with 2.7...

dear all,

 

try to rename the tech file in your saved games / mods /

 

for me it helped which means one or another mod inside this tech file is corrupting the 2.7.1

I have the same issue, but I found that the Frenchpack V4 causes this error for me. Delete it and DSC start without problems.

I get constant crashes with the most recent update...never had these before..it's either black screen or the game simply freezes and than I get the DCS Crash message..I'm gonna give it a break until a fix is available..
