USB / Windows /DCS issues

Guys,  i've have a look through 100's of posts and cant find anthing specific to my problem   hopefully someone has some answers.

 

I have a Thrustmaster t.flight and 2 Leobodnar BBI-64 button boxes so not a HUGE amount of usb devices but the issue I have is that while in game some of these devices lock up (really random) or disconnect from DCS.   When I alt-tab out to check the devices they are all still working, but I need to alt-tab out then back to DCS to get them working normal.  anyone have any thoughts what could be causing this.  ??

 

the devices are pluged directly into the PC not a usb HUB.    Flightstick is in a USB3 port at back of PC and button boxes are via the mothers boards USB2 header to front USB's.  other USB devices plugged in include keyboard & PS3Cam for Opentrack.  Earphones and mouse are Bluetooth. ??

If it doesn't solve the random disconnects and you are using AMD with X570, then welcome to the random usb disconnect AMD club. I have a TPR rudder that became a $600 paperweight because it wont work with this motherboard series.

Wasn't there a revised agesa update in the last 4-5+ weeks to address AMD mobo USB issues?

Well im still getting the issues. When i alt-tab to a pdf and alt-tab back the hotas or a button box stops working.  I need to alt-tab back to the desktop and click the DCS tray icon to get them all working….   My setup is a B450 Aorus MB so maybe this has the same issues.

Tried installing latest MB BIOS? Also cannot remember if there is a USB setting in the BIOS though may be worth a look.

 

Have you tried setting advanced power settings to high and not balanced.

To me this seems to be a problem of shifting focus and not an actual USB disconnect issue. 

 

The only good thing is that you have found a workaround. 

 

Along the way, one of the myriad of updates coming will eventually fix it, be it mouse, gpu, usb, chipset, windows itself...who knows !?

 

You could try 10 21H1 and see if that cures it.

Im upto date on windows updates…..  just frustrating.  im a few bios u[dates out but these seem to be support for 5th gen ryzen….  I’ll maybe give them a bash

Not sure if I misunderstand that, or if you misunderstood, anyway..to clarify:  21H1 is a new 10 UPGRADE, you will likely not see it within 10 Updates offered yet, some do but some also don't get it offered.

 

If you want it but it's not offered you have to go to MS 10 DL page and get the Updater tool. Mind you, that takes AGES longer than doing it through the updates. Had 4 machines last night, all identical, 3 had it offered and took 15min to DL & Install but the 4th PC had to do the "I wanna upgrade Tool" route and that took ages compared to the other three.

 

Either way, doing the Bios' ain't a bad idea either, often things get changed in Bios and are not listed in the What's New description at all.
