After escorting the A-10s all the way to the front line, the game keeps crashing.  It takes quite some time to reach the point where it crashes and it does not seem to be generating a crash log.  I will try again to replicate it once I have more time, but since it takes 30 minutes just to reach the AO, I don't have the time lol

Has anyone else run into this?

i7 4790k

16GB DDR3 2400mhz (if it's a memory leak and this isn't enough, I have more RAM on the way, will update if this resolves)
Samsung Odyssey VR headset

PS It seems not many have discovered this campaign, and since it was only $5 I picked it up.  Was really enjoying it!

Yes, it's a fantastic campaign.
The only time DCS ever crashes on me, it's one of two. Either a faulty mod, or I have overclocked my graphic card too much, and it gets too hot. For some strange reason DCS is the only game that doesn't seems to like overclocking. Everything else is fine.
Sorry for not beeing of more help.
Cheers!

Knew I was forgetting something.  Using a 2080super so no need for overclocking.

Looking back I realize both times were after the radio message to engage enemy helicopters at 1500 feet.  However, I could never spot the helicopters.   I will try again tonight and see if I can spot them.

I wonder if it's trying to spawn them and failing

Appreciate the heads up on this.  I'll check it out when I get home (out on a work trip at the moment)   And thanks for giving a rough approximation on where in the mission it's happening.  That helps considerably.

Finally received the RAM, so now running 32GB DDR3 2400mhz

I was able to get past the point where the crashes were occuring.  A-10s took out the AAA, I took out one of the helos.. then I must have screwed something up because I exploded

I will continue testing when I have more time tomorrow or this weekend.  It's a very long mission so don't have time to restart it again tonight.

Should also note I'm on the beta branch (those clouds!) if that's any help.

I was just able to fly the mission, and without any time acceleration, or mission editor tricks to speed up the mission, I flew the entire thing to completion without a crash.
My PC is quite similar to yours too.   4790k, 16gb ram, regular 1080, and running a Rift S.   My framerates did get embarrassingly low after both helo's were taken out.  Hit the low teens a number of times when looking out over the carnage in the city.

The explosion could be a couple things.  There is an SA-9 down there ... but you said you got the call that all AAA was taken out, so I doubt that was it.   Also, how close were you to that helo when you hit him?   I have a trigger set for an internal explosion on him once his health hits a certain point (to make sure the helo actually goes down)    Sometimes, if a player is to close to the target when that happens, they can take damage as well.
Another possibility, if you get to far away from the AO (and it actually is a decent distance), there are enemy SAMs out there, so don't be doing a sight-seeing tour to Senaki or something 🙂
