We can start-up engine while eng feed switch off.

And this switch must come off in cold dark.

Engine can be started with engine feed switch off, that’s normal. The pumps don’t run until the generator is online. Secondly the fuel system primary means of engine feed is siphon. The engine feed manifolds that feed the engine have check valves to allow fuel to free flow to the engine without boosted fuel pressure.

Well...at least in the RNLAF the groundcrew leaves the Eng feed in Norm. Only if they have to apply ground external power they will switch it off.. So it is NOT normal to start the engine with the ENG feed in OFF although it is possible.

Correct, it’s a checklist item to verify it’s in NORM. By the design the jet can start regardless of switch position, it will also continue to run if positioned to off.
