OP Reforger MISSION 5 Hotfix.

Dear all, here is the hotfixed mission 5 for the campaign Operation Reforger. Our apologies for your inconveniences.

Simply download and extract the archive or copy paste the extracted archive into your Mods/aircraft/F14 folder and let it replace the 3 existing missions in the F14/Missions/Campaign/OP Reforger_The Iron Heel and F14/Missions/Multi folders respectively.

I cannot finish this mission with a hotfix.

I kill SU-27s and Mig-29 from Gudata + one Mig29 ~ NW, than orbitin betwen WP2 and 3 and nothing happens.

All Pontiac and Ford fights are landing and they do not rearm as briefed.

I also cannot tank from the tanker.

I tried this mission like ~10 times as described above and still the same.

Also sometimes my wingman does not start from the deck.

I can send TRK to email as it is to large to attach.

OK, I looked into this mission.

 

1) The reason this mission hangs for me is that AWACS direct me to kill Mig29 from Maykop marked as "Russia/MiGMaykop".

2) It means it will not reach "West CAP" zone and trigger 1605224161 will not fire, means Rusia/MigKobuleti will not activate and not scramble. 

3) This also means that Rusia/MigKobuleti will not reach EAST CAP and Flag(3) will not be on.

4) The whole sequence of events will not happen, mean Uzi 201 will not EXPLODE (yes if you wonder who is killing Uzi 2-1 this is who - it hits magical wall in the air after 60 sec after scrambling of Migs from Kobuleti, and this poor bastard is doomed from the moment he was born. Yep there is no hope for this pilot 😉 

 

BTW ... Now I get it why there is no chute!!! xD 

Flag(4) .. 5 ... 6 will not be triggered (all time based) and Flag(99) will not trigger mission end condition.

Do not know how exactly the end conditions work, but there is also "You stil can do it(50, offline) with condition "time more > 1. 
Would it mean that I should be able to pass this mission with second attempt anyway?

If that's true than this also does not work for me 😕 (I landed like 10 times in hope for ending the mission).

 

Summary:

This is my first time I used the mission editor and it's triggers so keep that in mind, but looking into all of those condition at glance ... why author didn't took into account "other possibilities"?

I'm a programmer and looking into this like a code. There are like ~5 events which has to happen each after another (flag switching sequence) all target based and none of them are taking other possibilities into account, like unit being destroyed before it reaches the zone, crash into ground (stupid AI), obstruction on the runway which prevent airborne (I saw some random base damage) ... hit by friendly missile (looking into track this is not impossible, I was tracked by missiles from my own ship at least twice when fighting with a Su27s from Gudata). 
Yes I engaged the target without order from the "scripted" Wizard but hey! "Weapons free" and AWACS is directing me after "Bogey dope" (I count that as part of mission realism).

 

So ... should be easy to fix but it could be better polished.

The mission kinda sorta works on my end, but still has some quirks. I accomplished it successfully at least 3 times pre-2.7, so I don't think I did something wrong:

Somehow the initial "Pontiac trigger" doesn't fire.
I fly to steerpoint 1 as per briefing (and because I already know how the mission plays out and I therefore know what I'm supposed to do 🙂 ), visually acquire Pontiac flight and form up with them, follow them unit they launch their TALD's, then fly to my assigned CAP station and the rest of the mission triggers as it should.

 

On my way back to the carrier, just as I am about to enter the stack, suddenly the first mission trigger fires, and I get the "MiG magnet" message and Jester's briefing recap. A bit anti-climatic, I'd say. 🙂

 

Since the message was triggered when I was practically behind the boat (somewhere around 5-8 miles?), I assume the trigger zone must have "wandered off". 🙂

You are not supposed to listen to what the in game awacs wants from you, keep your station and engage targets assigned by mission comms. 🙂

Thank you for the research though, I will see if I can make a fail safe there, or set the awacs to silent. BTW in the mission comms, the mission awacs orders another friendly to engage that MiG. 😉

I think the latest update destroyed this mission again. I am flying between wp2 and wp3 again and nothing is triggered. It worked for a day or two after this hotfix, then a hotfix from ED a day or two later, for 2.7 may have bent this mission again.

I just tried the mission. Took off. Escorted Pontiac. They fired then a bunch of SAMs were shot but no anchorman AND then nothing happened flying CAP 2-3.

Same, i actually fly endlessly beetwen wpt2-3 with no luck.

No SaM destroyed at all....FA/18 fly in a giant loop and does nothing

Any idea ?

You're right !

The trigger which detects the TALDS zone arrival doesn't work, so there's no "ANCHORMAN" and the Mig/Su aren't launched.

I tweaked it by adding an "/OR -(PLAYER) /IN -(DA ZONE)" in the trigger, and it worked !

The tanker issue is because it's a KC-135, i.e. the boom tanker that the Tomcat can not refuel from. If it's switched to a KC-135 MPRS it should work. 

 

Edit: The tanker on mission six that is an MPRS does not reply for some reason though (after completing the mission), anyone else experienced that?

Thanks for the input guys, not sure what broke with the TALDs again, I'll take a look. I'll likely make it a player in zone trigger instead to eliminate the problem for the future altogether.
