I've just tried the same mission on the channel map and I'm getting the same thing - no smoke and no train. This morning, I tried both the Caucasus and The Channel train strafe missions with and without Civ Traffic and all are working perfectly OK now. Go figure! I know it was reported a long time ago, but it was working OK long after that, and still works in the current stable release. However, also, as can be seen from above posts, it is also working nicely in 2.7 now as well.
