2.7.0.4625 Open Beta crash at second mission load

XPACT

Recommended Posts

Biggest problem here is not the crashes, current problem is that developers and even closed beta testers can't recreate these from 14th April, this is to say the least a bit worrying. There is no fix in the progress since they can't recreate crashes and I don't see that changing anytime soon to be honest.

Good thing is that we have some bandaging solutions like deleting FXO to keep us going...

This is the real point which makes we still stall on multiple crashes.

The crashes are constant now. I know I'm getting the "second load crash".

I'm getting a bit frustrated because there doesn't really seem to be a remedy for this despite the fact that a pretty wide swath of users are suffering from the same problem. Deleting FXO and my local/temp DCS folders appears to be a fool's errand. I still get the crashes.

Log attached.

Just because I'm grasping at straws...

Which executable are we using to start the sim--DCS.exe or DCS_updater.exe? I use DCS/exe.

When flying VR, DCS_Updater.exe. When editing missions or filming replay tracks, DCS.exe.

I get second-mission crashes from both, but they are very inconsistent for me. They happen more in VR or when playing replay tracks, and occur much less when test-running missions I'm building. I have a hunch that if you start the mission as a spectator the incidence of crashes is less. It seems to crash more often if I jump straight into a cockpit while testing missions.

Just "DCS" I believe. The executable is located in my "ThisPC>F Drive (my SSD)>SteamLibrary>steamapps>common>DCSWorld>bin

Hello all, I used to use a FPS Limiter (60 FPS) via the nVidia Control Panel. So i switched it off. But that didn't help. I still have the crash on 2nd Quickstart Mission. Yesterday I used the F-14 against the Flanker on Caucasus. As soon as it was down, I hit End Mission and tried the free flight on Caucasus in the F-14 => crash. And that without FPS Limiter and resetted nVidia DCS Profile.

So I went back using the FPS Limiter. It helps me to safe energy and heat. You know, I've heared that fast GFX Cards are rare these days.

I just crash, it's even worse than before

I have the same first loading crashes of others users I see (only one time, after loading the sim, instant action in caucasus with F-18 - free flight mission -).

In W10 event viewer, I noticed that 1-2 seconds before crash, a security W10 update happened, It could be related?

In logs, I have the same issues related with ImGui.dll.

EDIT: attach DCS logs and screenshots with eventviewer

Why CTD happens at second time mission loading?

Cache problem? RAM? Where we need to look at if .logs doesn't help? Windows events maybe?

We need to undertsand why "the second".

Same here. Crash every session, but I can't see the pattern if there is one.  Sometimes it's on second mission, sometimes it's on selecting a mission after restart, etc.

Ok time to chime in here...sadly I am also suffering. I did a complete reinstall yesterday sadly no luck. Here are the logs from my most recent session. As everyone reports...first mission no issues. But as soon as I switch to a new mission "boom" crash. Tried all the tips and fixes suggested here. No dice!

hope for everyones sake ED manages to squash this Bug.

happy flying

I'm loathe to even suggest this, but I think there was another flight sim which showed similar crashing errors and users found they could avoid them by disabling Real-Time Protection. I think it was blocking memory access.

I can't test it since my game has stopped crashing for the past three days since I moved my Page File to a non-system drive. If and when it starts happening again I will try this out.

Interestingly, looking back at my Event Viewer log, I can see that on the last 6-8 DCS crashes, Security Center was in all cases the previous entry to the DCS crash.

I also have this SPP-Events.

But I can also force "App Crash" Events for DCS.EXE simply by fooling around with VSync Settings. I get them if I set the preferred Refresh Rate to "Highest" instead of "Application Controlled" and set the VSync Option "on" in DCS. The Result is a hard locked DCS without a crash report. It is simply frozen.

The settings from the uploaded screenshots seem to work for my machine (no guarantee that it could help others). I tried several quickstart Missions and stopped them, got to the next quickstart Mission - till now without a CTD or AppCrash (Driver Version is 466.27 and I have rBAR enabled)

I have to admit, that I use a 144Hz Refresh Rate and usually use my Monitors FreeSync Capabilities with FPS Cap to and never use VSync because of the Input Lag. But that doesn't work well in DCS. At the Stable Version (2.5.6.xx), I don't need to set anything else then fixed refresh rate and a FPS Cap - no VSync. But if I use the same Settings at 2.7 I get CTDs mostly on the second Quickstart Mission or the second run of the same Mission.

As I wrote, these Settings seem to Work for me at the moment - but I have to test them a few more days:

I upload the screenshots. DSC crash happened at 2:38:44, and securitycenter update just 1 second before (2:38:43).

In addition, attach zip with DCS log

Many thanks!

I have two remarks:

  • Your crashlog doesn't show the second mission loading crash (the main subject of this thread).
  • Your crash happens 13 seconds before the Security Center event is logged. Maybe this event is triggered by DCS crashing, and not the other way around. However, I've just crashed DCS on purpose (thanks to an old Viggen bug 😅) and I didn't see any "Security Center" event logged near the crash event.

For those experiencing the second mission loading crash : it'd be very interesting to know if you can all see this "Security Event" event logged just seconds before the DCS crash is logged... To do this, open Windows Event Viewer, then go to "Windows Logs" -> "Applications". If you find something interesting, please attach a screenshot.
