Firing the 2A4A Canon in a fixed Mode -Possible ?

Recommended Posts

A lot of stuff in the Ka-50 seems either undocumented or buried in the manual.

What I do to "fix" the gun is flip the "Automatic Tracking / Gunsight" switch right beneath the 4 Fusing buttons ( Ground Moving Target, Air Target, etc. ) to Gunsight.  This keeps your Shkval on, but boresights the cannon ( and also the Shkval).  Now, if you lase a target, the FCC will adjust the gun pipper to give you a firing solution from where you lased from.  If you move a lot, you'll have to lase the target again for proper solution.

"P" button on the keyboard switches back and forth from manual to auto tracking.

I like to use this mode if I'm running in on a close target, and don't have time to use the shkval to lock it up.  I just put the gun pipper on the target and lase.  Pipper adjusts for firing solution, I put the pipper back on the target, and fire.  Usually a good hit.

You might have to turn off your switch (can't remember the name) that only lets you fire if the FCC thinks you have a solution.  In other words, don't stop me from firing.
