But in this thread on page 104 and 105 a real pilot mentions using its ground mapping modes and comparing them to other Flankers.

 

What source have you to say the Su-27SM uses the old 1980s N001 and not an improved N001V for example?

Yes. The ground mapping and new computer processor 486 are features of Su-27SM.

I have a list of all the changes to the Su-27SM.

The radar is the same but with a bypass channel for the R-77. The new processor is used for navigation, ground mapping and use of air-to-ground weapons.

So did you mean that it was still a N001 family radar? That makes more sense.

Can you share that list of changes I'm curious.
