DCS Is stuck on logo screen after launch

Hi there,

 

I've bought a new PC recently with the main intention of going into flight sims again ... haven't played them for quite a while, so I'm really looking forward to fly again :)

 

Well, I've installed DCS World and it unfortunately keeps going blank directly after showing the logo on the startup. I've tried both Steam and DCS.com version and it doesn't make any difference with the exception that in the latter case I can hear the main menu music rolling in the back (but the screen still remains blank).

 

I've updated all the drivers, reinstalled the game, have done a file verification via Steam, have deleted/renamed the DCS folder in the Saved Games file, have also tried to replace the OptionsModsScripts.lua file, that have been reported as problematic by some users ... Now I'm running out of ideas and would appreciate some help.

 

My PC specs: i7-10700K, 2x16 GB RAM, RX 5700 XT 8 GB.

I've seen this behavior quite a few times when Fullscreen is turned on. But again, your log confirms Fullscreen is turned off:

Someone with a Radeon GFX card had the same issue. Please try this:

 

Hey! Apparently it works now!

So what I changed was:

>Set Full Screen to TRUE and set the correct resolution in options.lua

>Open via AMD software

I have the same problem the first time I start the game.

I used to have this on my older PC, weirdly what helped was clicking on the desktop after starting the game (just before it would show the black screen). Might have been something with fullscreen or something. Anyway I don't have that problem anymore, so yours could be unrelated.

Just let it load and dont click anything. DCS is a huge game with huge loadingtime. If you can, buy a SSD disk and move dcs on it. That will short the loadingtime extremly.

It never ends and I already have a SSD. It is happening since two patches or so.

Hi guys. Try this:

• NVIDIA GPU: edit "C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Config\options.lua", set "fulscreen" to "false". Save. Enjoy.
• AMD GPU: edit "C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Config\options.lua", set "fulscreen" to "true". Save. Run the game through Radeon/Adrenalin software.

Still no joy? Then please attach your dcs.log file ( C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Logs\dcs.log ).

Thanks, I tried that and after three reboots and runs of DCS it never locked in the splash screen. Anyway, in my case it was happenning from time to time and always the first time I launch DCS (just after TrackIR 5 software) so I will leave it in fullscreen=false (I own a Nvidia GTX 1070) for now and if it happens again will attach my log.

And... I have a lock after several days, log attached. It remains in the screen with DCS logo and black background and never loads into the menus screen.

I open Nvidia software, the resolution of my moniter is same as the resolution shown in my options.lua

It happened at 19:42 or so (here it is GMT+1) and deleted the whole directory after killing dcs.exe process and creating this post, so I would have to wait for next lock.

Hi @bin801. AMD and NVIDIA GPU both have a workaround for this bug, but they are different. With an NVIDIA GPU, you want your "fullscreen" setting set to false in your options.lua file.

If it doesn't work for you, please attach your dcs.log file (C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Logs\dcs.log - might appear as just "dcs").

The past few hours I can't seem to be able to open up DCS.

Whenever I double click the icon, it shows the splash screen, then shows something about the free products I tested during the free to play period (I skip those, that's not the problem since yesterday it popped up but the game run fine) and then the game gets stuck in the screen with the logo and the black space around. This has happened many times before, but I was just able to kill and then restart the game and it opened perfectly fine. Now I kill the program and reopen it but it keeps getting stuck. Please help.

Happened to me for a bit then I turned off "start in full screen" and it now seems to work OK.   Worth a try.

And finally I have a lock, it never ends the loading and remains in the logo screen, please find a screen capture attached and a ZIP file with my whole logs folder. That was the first run of DCS today. I'm using Openbeta.
