razo+r
On the HSI, you will have the option for stored alignement (STRD ALN) or something similar. This will shorten it significantly. 1

But yeah, as suggested above look into the stored alignment function. There was some detailed info on the recent-ish INS updates if you do a search. Edit: It's actually stored heading. Thread I was remembering is here. dburne
Even using Stored Heading though, it seems to take a little longer than 90 seconds it claims. Mine has never aligned quite that fast. James Spartan
Yesterday, I noticed that if I restart a mission (LShift + R) , the STD HDG is not available and I have to wait for the 9 minutes. If I quite the mission then relaunch it, the STD HDG is available !
Zyll
I give it 100 seconds to be safe. If you switch right at 1:30 you will get an advisory warning and the alignment fails.
Brun
Doesn't the 'OK' in the centre of the HSI indicate when it's completed? 1 Asus Z690 Hero | 12900K | 64GB G.Skill 6000 | 4090FE | Reverb G2 | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 + TM Grips | Winwing Orion2 Throttle | MFG Crosswind Pedals
naizarak
you also have to wait for INS ATT calibration to complete before using stored heading, otherwise the INS ATT advisory won't clear and you'll have to restart the entire process
Zyll
Yep, that's what you would think, but give it a try, and I think you will notice that we need to give it just a few seconds buffer time for a proper alignment.
