Everything today has it listed as Kingsfield.  The only airfield I havent been able to find a modern reference for is the UNIFIL heloport in Lebanon

The rest of the map is set in a relatively recent era, so a pre-1974 version of Nicosia airport doesn't make much sense.

 

Shackleton? Are you sure you're noe thinking of the two at Paphos?

There is (was?) an abandoned Shackleton at Nicosia. Us kids used to sneak out to it to mess around in it.

Thanks for that. Took me a while to get my bearings wrt what was where - really turned around. Failing memory and all that. Found the old PMQ we lived in though. Ha.

 

I remember there being more civilian aircraft there but again could be failing memory or they've since been dragged off.

I havent seen that on the list. as an Airfield, doesnt mean it wont be present as a fortification though.

There is also a heliport just South-east of Kingsfield, In Dhekelia. I don't know if they already added it.

But it's so tiny that only helicopters and small GA aircraft can land on it. Last time I remember seeing it being used was 15 years ago. Don't think the Brits still use it.

No 44. I'm not sure which is this one. It could be that small heli base on the hill outside Episkopi.

 

What's missing from the list:

 

- is the airbase in Krini/Pinarbas. Which is located few kilometers north of Nicosia airport. (this is added according to the screenshot by ED)

 

- The Mammari airstrip located 3-4 Km in the west of Nicosia airport. (this is not added and shouldn't be. It's just a dirt runway. Don't know what is used for)

- The small airfield just south of Kingsfield that I mentioned in my previous post.

 

- There are also 2 strips of emergency runways: You can see the small tarmac and runway markings if you zoom in close enough. These can have some significant strategic importance, since they can be used by the CNG (Cyprus National Guard) as FOBs in case the Turks decide to capture the rest of the island one day.

The ones that I saw on screenshot are more than enough for us to enjoy the island I think  If they decide to add a few more, they are most certainly welcome.

My understanding is that only one runway is active and its essentially a Helo base, much like one of the Syrian fields the name of which escapes me that was once a jet base and is now the Helicopter field that everyone complains doesnt have enough fixed wing parking.... 

 

I havent spent a lot of time trying to cross reference the info Maestro gave me against the ED screenshots beyond confirming the numbers are the same.  Renumbering fields on my Airfield diagrams, ERC and summary slides becomes a massive pain to keep consistent so I got the numbering right several months ago across all of them and have been waiting for Cyprus to drop to do another ERC and diagram release. My GPS coordinates are mostly lifted from Google, Greater circle and Airport Guide so may need to be fine tuned to suit the DCS coordinate systems. 

 

As I mentioned you may find the motorway fields and Helo port you mentioned are modelled as Bases, but they would not be airfields by the DCS definition.  There is an example of this in Syria where a 5000ft strip at the Al Mezzah Arab horse association is modelled but not actually an airfield.

No. 44 is krini AB. 

There are two runways in mammari. We use the one west of the village for gliding (i personally have a lot of experience flying in this area of Cyprus) and the east one is gonna be used by firefighting aircraft.

 

If Ugra wants Cypriots to test the Map here we are.

I'm actually really excited to see Akrotiri in sim. I lived there for several years when my dad was stationed there, will be interesting flying around parts of Cyprus that I knew so well!

It's being worked on and is in no way dead. In fact it even makes an appearance in one of Wag's recent videos, granted it's mostly covered in clouds.
