Cyclic/Collective controls?

Thanks. Personally i think ORT looks cooler, TEDAC is just aother modern display.

I'm curious how it's going to be implemented, maybe i.e. like Viggen.

Well, every display user can be happy as they can just use a snap-view to get full screen view of it. TrackIR users can be as well happy for it. But VR users have problems as Apache and Mi-24 both does have these one-eye targeting scopes that need to rest your head when looking through. And if it becomes such, it will not be nice at all. And if it is like a normal gunsight like in Mi-8 or UH-1 doorgunners etc, it will be annoying.

If you have a 3d printer and with a bit of DIY'ing you can find the collective base and controls from here. He has a Kiowa collective and he's doing an Apache one

Oh, thanks for the awesome link!!

I doubt I'll be printing my own, but it's cool that someone's sharing the 3d files!

Hmm... now tha I think about it, this might be more doable than I thought...

I know this is going to be a very complex and complicated question so I won't mind if the answers are rather lengthy. How do you open the door?

😄

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

Regarding cockpit controls, the biggest thing that will make a difference is what specific "Change number" of the AH-64D 2002 manual ED is operating on.  There was over ten years worth of changes in avionics software versions that has modified functionality of the some of the controls on the cyclic grips and CPG's ORT/TEDAC grips.  And in some cases, some of the buttons changed multiple times.  And since we don't even know if the module will have the ORT or the TEDAC, or legacy TADS or MTADS, that could also change things.  (Yes, I know the teaser video had an MTADS nose, but until ED confirms what configuration, I seriously doubt that can be considered confirmation of the features list.)

Question on the AH-64 MFDs - the black Buttons near the edges - are those simnple push buttons or seesaw push buttons or seesaw switches?

They are normal pushbuttons, but they correspond with a single command, called "Fixed Action Buttons". For example, if you push the COM button, it goes to the Communications page. Whereas other buttons change their function based on what is displayed on the screen, like other aircraft MFDs.

The ORT has a old style display in front which can show video of the DVO. The heads down display is there mainly to use the DVO without any electronics (in case of EMI) and in color. You could bypass the ORT (int and ext) altogether by using either MFD.

The Apache looks like it is going to be an absolute nightmare to bind.

The collective is like 2 Virpil Alphas on top of each other, the cyclick is like a VKB MCG/SCG, and the TADS/TEDAC in the front is like another 2 VKB SGC/Virpil Alpha.

I tend to use the Thrustmaster Gui on my warthog.

This can give 5 layers for every button on the warthog stick, throttle and MFDs.

I/O and U/M/D.

I/O will be the pilot/copilot selector for Hotas operation.

U/M/D will be set appropriately to each Pilot/copilot needs.

Thrustmaster will easily out Hotas the Apache Longbow.... the problem is remembering a complex Hotas system in an already complex VR cockpit.

My Apache thrustmaster programme will grow as I slowly learn this Chopper....... very much looking forward to the challenge.

Bring it on!

XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user  (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz.

Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound.... you know when you are dropping into VRS with this bad boy.
