Heatblur F-4 Phantom

Frankly I bet HB is doing it as one of their 2 unannounced modules. And hopefully it will come soon.

Reasons I think this:

They can recycle alot of jester logic for the backseat.

Development of the "old" F14's means they can also recycle older Aim7's and older sidewinder variants, plus the ALE-45 which I think was used on the Phantom as well

Not to mention if its a naval phantom, AWG-10 has some similarities to the AWG-9 (again jester re-cycle)

Plus the Naval Phantom also operated on the Forrestal.

Pure guesswork on my part, but it seems plausible.

I'm all good with any Navy model or like the f-14 2 different F-4s, a F-4E and the most similar Navy model.

Your request is contradictory. The F-4E was the least like any Navy bird the flight model would be the most different from any other phantom except the G and F. The two closest F-4 variants would be the B and C. The main differences were the landing gear, and the controls in the back

All that matters is we hopefully get a 75 to 80s F-4E, anything else is an amazing bonus for me. That E tho... that one is just pretty much necessary for DCS... I am afraid if it is a Heatblur project, they may end up only doing a naval one, in that case it is better off not being made as far as I'm concerned... -_-

I don't remember any such comment on the Phantom. ED said this about the Tornado, but not the Phantom.

The source is an interview given by Kate Perederko in December 2020 on Discord: "F-4 will be developed, eventually, but probably by a 3rd party dev. No particular model has been picked yet."

Following BIGNEWY's clarification regarding the translation of Perederko's sentence in the most recent interview, it is not 100% sure who is developing the module (it simply has not been said / asked) but if we take the first indication as valid it is likely that it will be a Third Party. Probably.

well HB did say that one of the reason why Forrestal was delayed was because they want the carriers to be compatible for their future module. If its not the F-4 with their bridle then idk what. Its definitely not their A-6 because they use launch bar

F-4C will be good for me along with a F-4B carrier version.

The F-4B has deploy to a 62-69 Scenery (73 on some old carriers). A F-4J from 68 to 81, F-4N from 73 to 83 and F-4S from 82 to 85.

The Midway operated Bs in the Linebacker campaigns.  The Essex class never operated the phantom II

I hope they still do the multi pack I can't decide what Phantoms I want but c and b would be the closest

By "old carriers" I was talk about Midway class carriers. The CVA-41 Midway maintain your F-4B group to 72-73 after LineBacker II

By "old carriers" I was talk about Midway class carriers. The CVA-41 Midway maintain your F-4B group to 72-73 after LineBacker II

I figured that- anyhow what Vietnam era carriers should we get for the Phantom and Crusader?

I really hope it’s heatblur doing the F-4 but I’m concerned it may be Mag3. And I don’t mean to insult them. But I think heatblur has more experience and resources to do this critical aircraft. Meanwhile the F-8 they’re working on is not too dissimilar in complexity and type from their Mig-21. The Mag-3 tease of an aircraft under Christmas wrapping awhile ago though was consistent with the shape of an F-4. I really look forward to the Corsair and Crusader from them, I’d just prefer to see Heatblur leverage their Tomcat experience for it versus another Dev stepping into uncharted waters.

The photo I recalled seemed to have wing fences, a feature the F-4 doesn't have, and where I'd expect to see the elevators they were not apparent.

that tease looks more like a Su-20 than F-4. One of the M3 dev even post some photo-geometry shot of a Su-20

Navy & Marine Phantoms had the Mk 4 Gunpod by Hughes available for centerline point but it seems to have had a very bad reputation, much worse than the SUU-16 or SUU-23 used by USAF before the F-4E with internal gun came out.

Specs & Wishlist:

Core i9 9900k 5.0Ghz, Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero, 64GB G.Skill Trident 3600, Asus RoG Strix 3090 OC, 2TB x Samsung Evo 970 M.2 boot. Samsung Evo 860 storage, Coolermaster H500M, ML360R AIO

HP Reverb G2, Samsung Odyssey+ WMR; VKB Gunfighter 2, MCG Pro; Virpil T-50CM v3; Slaw RX Viper v2

Personally, I think it's a necessity to have at least an F-4B/J/N/S (my preference being the F-4S, followed by the F-4J) and an F-4E.

The F-4S makes the most sense for HB's Forrestal, but the E was the most produced, and as WinterH said, it did have some desireable AG options that are desireable, which don't apply to USN/USMC Phantoms. Though as far as the F-4E goes, I'm only interested in a domestic variant/block.

My personal preference would be the British F-4M Phantom FGR.2 or F-4K Phantom FG.1 (from circa late 70s and onwards), but as it stands I think an F-4S and an F-4E (circa mid 70s) best fits DCS.

What could we expect in terms of weapons, sensors and capabilities from:

  • F-4S
  • F-4J
  • F-4N

  • F-4M FGR.2
  • F-4K FG.1

Arent J and N pretty close to each other? The S was the latests/most capable Navy model, correct?

If I remember correctly the Navy didn't use many different fancy "smart" A-G weapons?

How about the UK versions?

Personally I really like the looks of Navy Phantoms with the short nose better than the AF Phantoms.

But I would also really enjoy the ISR E-Phantom with AGM-78
