SLAM Return Bug

Joni

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

When using the SLAM in the stores page there is a bug where you cannot return to the main page without deselecting and unpowering the weapon.

With jdams, jsow, harpoon and every other weapon like these in the hornet you click the weapon OSB to return and keep it selected, powered and aligning (if not yet).

EDIT: You have to be inside the SLAM DISPLAY page to notice that you cannot go back without deselecting and powering down the weapon.

Track attached.

Maybe I'm not understanding your issue, but what about pressing menu and then stores? No need to power down the missile.

Exactly, the missile should not be powered down for obvious reasons, unless you manually deselect it.

With jdams, jsow, harpoon and every other weapon like these in the hornet you click the weapon OSB 1 to return from the display page and keep it selected, powered and aligning (if not yet).

But with the SLAM if you click the weapon OSB button it will deselect and power down.

I forgot to mention (and that is probably why you didn't understand and ED thought it was correct as is) that I was talking about being inside the SLAM DISPLAY page. I will edit the OP. Thank you!

It's very easy to reproduce.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood what I said.  If you press menu and then stores from within the SLAM DISPLAY page, it doesn't power down.  The countdown continues.

Yes, but I was depicting a behavior that is exclusive to the SLAM and that rises the question of why would the SLAM power down when clicking OSB 1 from display page while every other weapon with same format won't?

Same with the other bug report I made about the step, why would the SLAM be the only weapon in DCS that won't step after launch?

Thanks.

You keep posting that you can’t go back without deselecting and powering down the weapon, but I’m showing you how you can!

Slightly unrelated, but going to cause confusion at some point: you are referring to OSB 6 (not OSB 1).  The Hornet starts numbering OSB's in the bottom button on the left side, then clockwise.  The A-10 starts numbering in the leftmost button of the top row, so that would be OSB 1 in the A-10.  Which actually illustrates that you don't always get consistency in systems 😀

Yes, and I thank you for that. Just take a break from that point for a second will you?

Go jump in the hornet's cockpit with one slam, one jdam, and one jsow. In each one of them go to the display page and then click the OSB 6 (not 1) so you can see how jdam and jsow remain selected and powered while the slam doesn't.

Regards.

I don't know what is correct behaviour here, but I don't think there is necessarily any reason to assume because one weapon behaves in a particular way, that all others should.

Actually it's the other way around. 2 work one way and 1 work differently.

I care very little about which one has the bug, I just reported the anomally. It's up to ED to check if the SLAM is incorrect or the JDAM and JSOW are.

Or maybe none of them are, which I hope, the less bugs the better experience.

Thanks.
