Same, almost back to 2.7 performance as a result.

updated nvidia driver versions

Interesting. I ran a Heaven Benchmark on my 4090 and it was running at 112fps average. I thought that was odd. This was on the latest 526.98 drivers. I then downloaded the oldest drivers that support the 4090 (522.25) and retesnullted. Benchmark was double and average fps in the 350s. The score went from 2839 to 9040. Then for the hell of it I reinstalled the latest 526.98 drivers... and the performance remained at the higher level. Have you tried reinstalling the latest drivers and testing again?

Perhaps the driver reinstall reset some nvcp settings?

Could be! Moral is to always run a benchmark after installing new drivers 😉

I haven't tested it in a long while, my observation, rather than measurement is that it makes little difference on my 12 series processor, where it definitely did make a noticeable difference on my 6 series. Though it could as much have been a version of Windows that improved the way the scheduler worked.

Thanks, I'll try it with Hyperthreading enabled.

Did you see any difference with hyperthreading enabled ? I noticed less stutters when its disabled on my 10750 but its hard to measure stutters objectively.

So I upgraded yesterday to 2.8.3.37556 and I got a decent (10%) bump in multi thread performance and flat shadows seems to be "fixed".

FPS 10% Low 1% Low 0.1% Low app CPU(ms) render CPU(ms) GPU (ms) FPS app CPU render CPU GPU Notes
68.24 57.67 47.95 44.80 14.89 11.86 14.52 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 2.8.3 Baseline
67.31 58.96 56.93 56.60 14.96 11.71 14.83 -0.94 -0.07 0.14 -0.31 Flat Shadows On
74.80 64.84 58.45 56.67 12.26 8.50 13.24 6.56 2.63 3.36 1.28 Multi-Thread

note the increase in 1% lows , though that could be mostly shadow related.

@speed-of-heat Appreciate your comprehensive sharing. Very useful basing on insideful data.

Looking forward your update/new thread with coming stable version of MT. 👍Would be the best if you would still keep 3090 as part of guidance, though understanding you are with 4090FE now.😆
