Force DirectX 11?

Recommended Posts

According to this: https://vr4dcs.com/2020/07/05/dx11-reinstall-for-dcs/

I have installed DX11, but I don't see where or how to "force SteamVR " to use it.

When I run dxdiag it shows I'm running 12

Edit: I am on non steam stand alone open beta.

i'd be really careful about installing legacy versions of DX... some people have had some odd experiences...

that said, i think forcing dx11 used to be an option in Steam VR, i cant seem to find it now, it might no longer be supported? i think it is possible to do this via Steam (apps)...

It is still supported, at least with WMR devices.

Open the Steam in Game menu with your controller and go to the Headset settings (bottom left), under graphics you can find that option.

ahhh thats where it is "[your drive]:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\bin\win64\OpenVRSettingsUX.exe"

Must be a WMR thing, I don't have either of those.

Found this on reddit:

Not sure if legacy repro does anything for WMR, but ForceDisableDX11 uses the CPU to do reprojection, whereas if its set to false WMR uses the "new" GPU-based reprojection. If your game is GPU-bound, you might get smoother reprojection using the old CPU-based method, and vice versa if your game is CPU-bound.

I'm CPU bound, so i'll leave it as it is

Yeah.. I tried this, and went from 45 FPS to 30 FPS in VR. And now I can`t go back to 45 FPS by disabling D11 force mode. DCS repair, reinstalling WMR, GPU driver or SteamVR did`t work either.

My new system: Asus rog strix X570 F, 5800X, 6900XT, 32 RAM CL16, HP Reverb G2.

I have better FPS on my old system. I9 9900k and RTX 3080😝
