3090: 17.5GB GDDR6X and 23 RAM used in VR

Most settings are on high with no aa and no shadows. Steam SS: 2700x2700 with a Reverb G2. I get decent FPS but:

 

In simple SP-Missions my system eats up more than 17GB 3090-memory and more than 20GB of RAM!

 

Do you guys have similar numbers?

Are you sure that is memory used and not memory reserved?
I am not sure I know how one can tell, but understand some reports are of memory reserved, not necessarily used.

Food for thought anyway.

The numbers are displayed in my fpsVR Dashboard while in VR. But maybe it doesnt matter if its used or reserved memory.

 

I`m not sure if i`m getting normal values or if i have to do something about my PC config.

You can use afterburner with the gpu.dll plugin to see how much it's ACTUALLY using.

 

Top tip, it's not 17GB.

 

In multiplayer I rarely see more than 7.5GB used, although the full 10GB is allocated.

I had used a multiplayer mission Syria map, I downloaded from the user files and it had every airplane available to fly that DCS has in their library.  That choked my system big time, whereas is used most of my Vram (8gb) AND almost all of my 32 gb of regular ram.

I have an alienware R4 Aurora syatem with a 1070 gtx card, so I realize it isn't brand new.  But, it seems if the missions are stuffed full of possible content, it sucks the life out of the computer.

Syria, but also tried Caucasus, Gulf. Syria is most demanding.

It was addressed multiple times that modern tools can not detect actual VRAM usage and display reserved ram instead. It is one of those misleading readings that don't actually affect performance at all.

part of this statement is sort of true.

 

Tools only measure what is allocated, thats true, however, DCS is consistent in asking for more vRAM on more intensive maps, there is a strong correlation between poor performance and high vRAM usage, when you increase the amount of available vRAM some of those performance issues "go-away" ...  what we don't know is how much of the RAM allocated DCS is actually using to draw a strong conclusion in either direction...

so i am getting just under 20Gb of RAM used and 10.2Gb of VRAM, allocated in the Syrian Hornet IA mission

Hmm, I am the same as Hafer. fpsVR showing 17Gb used in Syria Hornet FF IA mission.  G2 at 100% SS (3172x3096).

so I am on my G1 at 2704 x 2644 (at 150%) at 208% (3184 x 3196) i get 12.6Gb...  on Low Textures and 16.1 with High Textures (not sure I can tell the difference between low and high)

Yep, same here. Goes down to about 12Gb with low textures.  It may be placebo, but I feel I see a difference with high textures, and as it doesn't seem to affect frame times, I keep it on.
