After the recent update, whenever I try to start DCS, it gets stuck on the logo screen

I'm not sure now if I'm in the correct thread, and will start another if that would help you sort one person's issue at a time.

Another user has the same issue. Please continue over here and try what I've just asked him to do.

my problem is, I get a authentification error: error 500, so i have to bind every single module. then I see the DCS logo when it starts but then there is only a black screen.

The error 500 issue has a solution: you need to fix your PC's date and time. Try this.

I just tried you suggestion, but it didn't work. Thanks you for the tip, anyway.

I'm sorry if I'm hijacking the thread with my situation. I made a small video of my screen and the way the mouse moves.

What it shows is my desktop (my background image is of the Mi-8 cockpit, that's not the game running) and the mouse moving inside that invisible box. You can hear the DCS World main screen music coming from my Rift-S and if I was skilled enough to capture video from the Rift, you would see the mouse moving the same way, within the same limits.

I'm not convinced it will change anything but I have no better idea: try setting fullscreen to "true" in "C:\Users\your-name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\options.lua" file.

It didn't work, no. Had to revert to the previous beta and hope for some sort of hotfix .

I managed to load the game in VR-off mode, but the mouse problem was even worse: now I could only move it in a staight horizontal line the with of the initial splash screen.

Too bad because I was really looking forward to check multicrew on the Huey...

I'm also on a shadow PC, seeing exactly the same issue.  Won't get past that initial ED splash screen.  Have uninstalled, reinstalled and repaired but unable to get into the game.

Only started happening after the latest update to open beta.

Gutted as i have a week off before christmas!

Well, I finally managed to get the game to run, sort of. Can't really say for sure what made the difference, but I'll list what I did and maybe it helps someone out.

I reverted to the previous Open Beta and the game started and ran with no problems;

Inside the game I unchecked the "cursor locked in game window" box, to see if the cursor problems persisted after trying the next step;

I installed the new beta again and this time what happend was that DCS's window loaded on the "background", never as the active window. I had to click on the taskbar icon or alt-tabbing into it, to enter the game in VR-off mode. If I didn't do it, I would get the "DCS has crashed" messsage.

After those clicks on the task bar, I was able to run the game with no problems whatsoever.

To get the game running in VR, I had to do the same thing.

After starting the game, I have to click the DCS preview window in the taskbar to get the VR window to come up and to have the mouse working properly inside the game. I only put the headset on after checking that the window has appeared. If I don't do that, the VR window doesn't show up and looking through the headset, although I can see the main screen, I keep getting the out of focus message (even with every window minimized) anywhere I click with the mouse.

TL,DR:

After launching the game, specialy after the brief login screen flashes, keep clicking the DCS preview window in the taskbar until DCS becomes the active window and you get to the main screen.

@Neon not sure if this is a cause of your issue. however you have a minimal swap file in windows. have a look here

manage virtual memory

ah yeah i see that now. i can tell you that if an application does not 'see' enough specs to run the application, it probably will not work. just saying. maybe these folks can do a change on the instance to have a larger page file. in the virtual machines arena one can add more cores, more memory, more disk space, etc. perhaps this can too.

Thanks @BIGNEWY - just installed .59625 on my Shadow PC and it loads up fine for me. Thanks to the devs for squashing this so quickly given VM users must be a small minority of DCS players.

I also have malwarebytes and the same happened to me. All you have to do is add the /bin/DCS.exe file to your allow list. GL&HF

BTW, run cleanup and repair first to put the file back in the folder. The Mbytes quarantines it.

You're probably getting the 500 error. Can you please attach your dcs.log file?

Hi @Ornithopter. Here's your issue:

2020-12-19 02:34:22.960 ALERT Dispatcher: Error starting Game GUI: [string "./MissionEditor/MissionEditor.lua"]:86: invalid order function for sorting
2020-12-19 02:34:22.960 INFO EDCORE: (dDispatcher)enterToState_:2

Go to "C:/Users/GamePC3/Saved Games/DCS.openbeta", rename your "MissionEditor" folder into "MissionEditor_old", then launch DCS. You should be fine.

Hi there,

for me any newer version than 2.5.6.58125 is exactly producing this error. No shadow PC (real Windows10 PC).

Also tried to

- update Nvidia Drivers to 461.09

- cleared DX11 Cache

- Reinstalled DCS with clean up the settings under SavedGames = very clean install

Going back to 2.5.6.58125

Any hints on this ?

Thanks and regards,

Syff
