Making HUD font darker?

Does anyone know how to make the HUD font darker or change colour?

I saw something about editing the HUD_init.lua file for the original A-10C, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

HUD Brightness?

 

the file to edit is "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C_2\Cockpit\Scripts\HUD\Indicator" (path varies depending on your install folder).

 

day_color    = {0, 255/255, 0, 255/255}
night_color  = {243/255, 116/255, 13/255, 255/255}

I may have almost 6000 posts, but I haven't tried to change the HUD brightness on the A-10C II before, so excuse me for asking!

If it's the HUD_init.lua file you are referring to, then as I said in the OP, I tried that, but it didn't work.

OK, so I think it does work, but I was misunderstanding the format of those lines, i.e.

day_color = {255/255, 0, 0, 255/255}

night_color = {243/255, 116/255, 13/255, 255/255}

What is the format here?

Presumably the commas are field separators?  RGB plus opacity?  What does the / do?

Any help appreciated.

@imacken sorry i was not trying to be mean.  some of your past posts have helped me so i apologize. the RGB numbers can be found here RGB colors picker. commas are separators. the opacity is how much the color is "see through."

Thanks for that.  So, is the format R, G, B, opacity?  If so, then what does the / do?  For example in the lines above, what does 116/255 mean?

You are aware you can alter the brightness ... or change it to night (orange)? I simply have the brightness rocker bound to left and right cursor keys for rapid adjustment. I haven't found a situation that I couldn't adjust the HUD intensity for.

Thanks. Yes, I am aware of that. I guess it's not the brightness - as in intensity - of the display, it's more the brightness of the colour.  Especially in VR, it is very difficult to make out at times.  I need to make the colour a darker green and I'm still not sure of the format of the lines in discussion above.  I've tried trial and error, but that is painful!

Hmm, those values are a little different to the ones on Taz's mod linked to above.  The mod works nicely.

I just tweaked it some more since that post but basically same thing.  Also included the HMCS in the mod.
