MiG-23 really?

Harlikwin

Recommended Posts

Well, with that kind of attitude I don't know. I'm pretty sure most real pilots would prefer not to have a guy who flies because he thinks the ground isn't worthy of supporting his weight in their squadron if they could help it. 🙂

I'm sure they can find a less stereotypical fighter pilot as their MiG-23 SME.

Нет конечно. Я вполне адекватный человек, очень хороший лётчик,  и не плохой тестер DCS.

This is absolutely correct. And so it is.

Hmm....

A "new guy" enters to thread with official "ED Partners" and "ED Beta Testers" stamped on the profile and people assume first thing that guy is something else than says....

This reminds me of "Who is nineline? A community manager, a nobody...."

Not everything is "DOA" because new renders aren't posted every week, dude.

Maybe we don't need new pictures of renderings etc, but what we would need is.... like the presence of the developers, you know, like in this forum, commenting weekly something... Like you know, taking less time than they already spend on their Discord.... you know.... commenting all kind silly things....?

Given that this is the actual official forum from the game, one would hope actual information gets posted here first or at least very rapidly after it hits other platforms.

I've read the Raz discord and the mig23 channel isn't a way to get information, its basically just a bunch of fanbois posting random shit and mig23 pics for 99% of it. If you want to wade through that every single day be my guest, but most of the time I have better things to do. The one plus side is you can get a hold of the Dev there and he's a cool enough guy. But I'd rather he work on the mig than chat with me.

I'd probably be banned if shared my thoughts on "reddit" so, lets leave it at that.

This forum is the OFFICIAL support forum and news forum for any product that is going to be released in the DCS World as a module, made by a contract with the Eagle Dynamics.

ED offers the developers the forum for support, for discussions and for content and news. They as well offer the servers for updates, schedules, SDK and all marketing platforms as well sales systems.

This forum is the #1 place where every news, every update, every single thread of the information should come first. So when a DCS World user, a ED customer comes to buy new modules, search new content, check out the news etc, that they will find it from this site.

If they want to have a good relationship with the customers (Public Relationship, PR) then it requires that there is a communication and proper one.

It means that you keep your customers up-to-date that what are your schedule, plans and roadmap for the next couple updates, for the major versions and for the year to come.

You should be active as possible to keep a roadmap updated, acceptably detailed and be interactive with the bug reports that what are open and when they are going to be fixed when known.

They are in the Discord where they control it a such way that they can ban people they don't like, they can delete messages they don't like, and they can simply just gather fanboys around them to chit-chat things that do not matter the development or help anyone else.

The Razbam problem is their communication methods and style. They still do not understand that they need to come here, to have the primary communication channel right here. When they are ready to publish new screenshots or news or something, do it first here. And then take that post URL and share it via facebook and twitter or what ever they want, but do it here so it stays here as a historical documentation and gathers widest possible audience who are interested about DCS World.

Razbam is here to take your money if you are willing to give it to them. It is better for them if they get more people interested to give it to them by telling to customers that how their work progress and how they handle their previous products.

It really is not so hard when someone who stays on track that what is happening, as it literally can take a 1-2 hours a month to make a good progress report.

All fair points, except there hasn't been any meaningful update that doesn't get posted here. The last project report was the 30/10/2020 one by Elmo, which is actually a link to a forum post. Sure, you don't get to chit-chat with the devs here about the weather or little intricacies of the ejection seat chute activation altimeter mechanism, but you don't need to either.

Please, lets just stop the few and some posts somewhere randomly by someone from Razbam.

Let's take a look a official forum:

https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/734-mig-23-mla-flogger/

Is there a post about a roadmap? Is there a "progress reports" as locked threads that only Razbam would maintain?

Something like what example ED has done with Hornet:

https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/165047-hornet-mini-updates/

Very clear, very simple and up to date. Wags does the videos as well, but that is not demanded from the Razbam now. Just a nice posts about what is coming in next update, what is the status of the major core features and what they are trying to achieve in the next 6-9 months.... And similar thing for all the modules, separately on each and own forums.

You shouldn't need to do that anywhere, not here and not in Discord. The developers should be working instead chatting or checking out a discord. We could use a every quarter a ask-a-question session from the project manager that could open up the progress, challenges and achievements and of course what they want to get done. Answer for the small details like what version is coming etc. But those are not even demanded but more is required is a communication from the Razbam that how long it takes to get something done.

That is what is triggering customers badly when they do not what is the status and what is the future. For over a year Harrier was almost in dead in the water, until suddenly outburst happened when Razbam (and not ED, as Razbam claimed) suddenly marked Harrier feature completed - regardless it was missing a lot of major features not even implemented in broken state.

The MiG-23 has been similar way like silence. Few 3D models here and there and that's it really.

Customers like to know what is happening. Even if it is "we have frozen the project for next 2-3 months" as news, because it just tells people that something is happening.

When a project time is easily 3-5 years, it is better to keep customers updated when something happens. Be it just a "nothing has not yet changed from last report two months ago, we are still aiming for end of the Q2 to get feature X done.....".

Just now, Lucas_From_Hell said:

You are not a customer.

You are totally wrong.

Anyone who walks to store to check out products to purchase at the time, in the future or any means, are customers.

The product is not on sales page as it is not on sale or pre-order, but it is announced that it is coming and will come available.

You can disagree with that as much you want...

It's not a way to get information, because the team is focusing on other things. And these "random posing fanboys" are the actual future customers. Also, in case you don't understand how work works, there is certain time of the day when a person works, this is called a shift. And you know what people do when they come back from their work? They do whatever they want. Like checking out discord 🙂

If something is not being offered at this moment, you cannot be a customer and noone is obliged to treat you as such. Easy as.

Hai fanboi! 😉 You might recall me from the aforementioned discord, and I personally have no problem with discord and I do like the channel from time to time. But as an overall format for sharing information its a pretty crappy format for anyone in a hurry who wants to know the latest official news since you have to crawl through a few hundred msg/day which are largely unrelated to actual development news. That being said I learned alot about the mig23 there, so thats a plus, but its not the point that folks are irate about.

The news usually get pinned there 😄  exactly because of that.

And yes, there are people who are irate. But why are they mad about MiG-23 is beyond me 🙂

I think the point is that the news should get pinned here shortly before or after. Its honestly not much to ask IMO.

I mean I recall OS's posts from a few months back saying we might see the 23 before the end of 2020... But, well, those certainly haven't aged well.
