Colt
Hope some can help me with the following: I recently swapped my Warthog base for a Warbrd My understanding is that you can configure the Warbrd base + Warthog grip so that DCS thinks its a Warthog (and auto assigns buttons / keeps your previous assignment). I've changed the PID/VID and clicked Save VPC Device, but DCS still thinks it is a different stick (also thinks it has a Z-axis). I'm using the latest version of the configuration tool. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
imacken
Have you tried importing your old profile in DCS? Should work OK. sobe
When I tried this several months ago, I ran into problems. Finally, Virpil stated that they do not support this change and will have nothing to do with it. So I gave up and just stopped using Target. imacken
TARGET? Why are you using that? Colt
Thanks, I'll plug in my TM base and save the profiles. Maybe downgrading to a previous version of the Virgil software and firmware will work? I've not used Target, for me it's about the auto-assignment and automatic long/short presses that dcs picks up from the warthog.
Bunny Clark
Seems like an awful lot of work to do just to get DCS to auto assign button presses. Setting up the key assignments yourself is a pretty simple process, especially for the high fidelity modules. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. Normally you should not be doing more then that. I've done the same which works just perfect. Changing the PID/VID should be the only thing to do. No need to use the VIRPIL software anymore after the transition. From then on, your WarBRD base with TM stick works just as the stick from a Warthog HOTAS combo. When you use a Target script, both devices are combined into one single device (you can have more then 32 DX buttons for that combined profile through the 128DX button script). If you don't use a Target script, you will have still have 2 devices in the controls section of DCS just like a normal Warthog HOTAS would if you don't use a script that combines the two. The only difference is that it still carry's the name Right VPC Stick TWM Grip. For Target however, it's considered a Warthog stick because you changed the PID/VID number. That you have a Z-axis on your stick is normal. That's assigned by default by DCS for about every controller, just delete them. Colt
Thanks all for your responses. If I understand you correctly, the pid/vid change only ensures that target sees the stick as a warthog, not DCS (eg no auto assignment of buttons). If I'm misunderstanding, that means that although the Virpil software shows the change, it's not registering correctly for DCS. In which case it may be quicker/less painful to either plug in the thrustmaster base again and export all controls, or just reassign them, then trying to figure out how this is supposed to work. Lange_666
DCS sees it as "RIGHT VPC STICK TMW GRIP" if not combined through T.A.R.G.E.T. I do have auto assigned buttons to each hooked up controller but the first thing i do when creating a profile is deleting them and set them however i want them. I try to set them as close as possible the same for each aircraft, so i have only to remember one big setup and some needed derivates (that's more then enough for my old brain).
