[CORRECT AS IS]Stars are flashing

Sorry if reported before, but (at least in VR) at night, if you look closely, you can see the stars are actually flashing.

 

Not a very big deal obviously, but I thought I'd just as well report it.

 

 

(I'm not using any shader mods and I'm running latest OB)

I will take a look, but they should flash a little.

 

edit: just checked, I am not seeing a bug, they should have a slight flash / twinkle

I think you could customise this in your graphics.lua under Stars (line 400) flickerEnabled = true; could be changed to false if you so prefer.

I've never see 'em flash like this in real life. Perhaps I need to take a tranquility moment some night, and stare at the stars for a while

Just for the record, I know they are not to be compared to artificial light sources, but jump in VR at night and look up.

That's nowhere near what I see when looking up at the stars in real life :smilewink:

 

Then again, I live in The Netherlands, so perhaps our stars look different :prop:

I found this slightly jarring, like the sky is full of pulsars. Stars don't twinkle. The only twinkling one my might observe is from disturbances in the atmosphere (heat waves, ect.) that you're not going to see at cruising altitude.

Yeah the stars are definitely blinking. I get particles in the atmosphere might dim a star for a second here or there, but no stars I’ve ever seen blink like this.

Stars twinkle as an effect of atmospheric disturbances and imperfect heat. It will change from place to place and weather to weather. The current rendition I like, feels more realistic than no twinkling.

I agree, however I'd prefer it a little more subtle. (At least in VR, if you look at them, it looks weird now)

 

 

But again, no biggie of course
