Just go into your DCS main folder (\DCS World\bin\) and find the dcs.exe. Then send it to your desktop - or make a shortcut

As for the original post - I have the same frames as before. Have you tried a repair? I think deleting the fxo and the metashaders is now part of the update routine. Though you could do this manually.

yes i deleted it from destktop. now cant find it.

Easiest way I can think of is either do what AnimalMother711 said, or you can search the start menu for DCS World, right click it, open file location, and copy it to the desktop (or make a shortcut, by right-clicking, select 'create shortcut' and move it to the desktop).

Hi guys! I got a problem with DCS world 2.5.6. It works great but 1 thing though, the outside in DCS is too bright but the cockpit is not too bad. I tried gamma in-game, brightness, contrast in the nvidia control panel it changes the whole cockpit and outside views. How do I change the brightness of the outside view? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Cheers,

Vincent

The gamma setting is global, AFAIK there isn't a way around it.

What weather/time of day have you set up? I find that summer in the Caucasus, the landscape and particularly the trees are fairly washed out, it's only really when I get close enough so that shadows render on the trees do they look right.

The other issue is that if you set the gamma low, the cockpit will probably look too dark, while outside will look fine - this is made more of an issue in 2.5.6 given that interior lights are borderline invisible (even when maxed) under daylight conditions. Now obviously if a particular element isn't in shadow this should be the case, but for elements that are in shadow, IMO the lights should probably be brighter, however that is just my uninformed opinion.

I set the in-game gamma to 1.8 it is still too bright! Now what?

You might want to change the time of day to late afternoon/early evening. (17:00,18:00 hrs or so)

Mine is set to 1.2. If you have an Nvidia card, there are gamma, brightness, saturation and contrast settings in the Nvidia control panel.

Right click on a blank part of your desktop to access it. I believe you can do something similar in AMD.

I found my monitor settings to be the culprit.

The first thing to adjust is the physical monitor itself. Factory settings are usually optimized for maximum sales, so brightness high, colors "crisp" aka unnatural vibrant, far too much contrast...

Start with brightness and contrast at 60% and tweak brightness to a level where a typical black-to-gray-to-white test strip shows black as black but all gray fields visible up to white. Fine tune contrast.

For me this is somewhere around 78-80% brightness and 65-75% contrast. Then adjust color so it does not look like a Bollywood movie, there are test charts on the internet that help with that as well, for me eyeballing it is good enough.

Now, you can adjust the Gamma value, usually I set between 1.9 and 2.0.

This should give quite acceptable results from which you can fine tune to your liking.

Eh it’s not the monitor it’s the game. The game is too bright. My monitor is all calibrated correctly and the game went from being fine to being all washed out in a single update.

I'm running the latest OB version, 2.5.6.57530, and I am unable to see or place my aircraft mods (A-4E-C, F-22A, etc.) in the Mission Editor. I can see the aircraft on the main menu, just not in the drop down in the Mission Editor. Any ideas?

Thanks

As this is related to modding you'd might better find an answer in the 'Mods and Apps' forums -> https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/mods-and-apps

I have mine set to 2.2 but depending from what angle the sun is shining from it doesn't look too different from your screenshot. When I look in the bright sky brightness got dimmed down a bit and when I look in the darker part it's the other way around - so pretty much what the human eyes does IRL. Isn't this happening on your screen too?

Back to the topic, gentlemen. The OP posted about a totally different problem.

I have DCS Open Beta 2.5.6. Now it's extremely slow to start. It takes at least 5 - 10 minutes to start a mission. Then when I want to exit the program same thing slow as hell. Does anyone know why this is happening.

Please do as follows:

  1. Start a mission. Once in the cockpit, close the game.
  2. Attach your dcs.log file using the Upload Attachments button below. ( C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log )

We'll see in the log what takes so much time.
