RickB
What effects the performance more, the processor speed or the amount of memory. I have an AMD AThlon 1.4 Ghz processor, 512M DDR memory, Radeon 9600 video card. It seems to run ok ( slight hesitation when there is alot going on at once) what will speed it up, new processor or more memory? Any suggestions? Kula66
I think most people agree that LO is CPU bound ... and (IMHO) your CPU is in need of a boost!!! RAM is probably ok, I've rarely seen LO use more than about 200Mb ... more would just allow for more caching. So if your disk is being thrashed when you play, then get more RAM, otherwise go for CPU. ALDEGA
Rule number one: you can't have too much "physical memory": I suggest you try 1GB RAM. One additional 512 MB module should be about 100$. Lomac is also very GPU intensive. I think the fillrate requirement is quite high. You have a large textured area (ground) that has relatively high resolution textures (+ detail texture). Enabling anisotropic filtering should hit performance signficantly, unless your card is fast enough (given the current graphics settings). I would try to improve the CPU and increase the memory before considering changing the videocard though.
