Jack Watts
Hi there Guy's Have some problems with DCS, First I installed DCS World on a internal SSD Drive was working OK it was just the latest basic version Caucasus MAP. Initially did not login to my DCS account until after I changed drive letters. Then i change Drive Letter from B to E, then i tried to login to my account within DCS World to see how downloading one of my purchase’s modules would work online, Only to find incorrect password errors pop up, so I changed pass word to a very basic password seemed to fix problem, until I reset password back to the original password. Now no sound unable to download purchase modules and incorrect password is back. This screen shot is the latest error, I been getting, What are my Options. Flappie
Thank you, Jack, you did well. I don't see any directory conflicts, but I see many connection errors. It seems DCS cannot reach the internet. The most significant error is "request dcs:hwreport failed with error 6: Couldn't resolve host name". This reminds me of a user who had trouble updating DCS because of a forgotten piece of Avast software. Is your gaming PC connected to the internet? Have you been using Avast or did you use it in the past? If yes, try the official Avast uninstaller. Or else you should check DCS is authorized to pass through your Windows 7 firewall, or any other installed firewall. 2020-10-19 00:04:06.234 ERROR NET: HTTP request dcs:settings failed with error 6: Jack Watts
"Thanks Flappie" for any help so far, and in the future ! "So" What does this mean - ("request dcs:hwreport failed with error 6: Couldn't resolve host name") "Also" yes i was connected to the internet, within DCS "No" have not got Avast on my computer - Avast- is that a Anti - Virus Software ? I use Bitdefender !! I'll have look at that authorization setting in my windows 7 control panel see if i can find anything in there. Also might try to reset password again. If you have any suggestions could please let us known. I'll get back to you later. Thank You !
Flappie
Yes, Avast is an antivirus software. Some DCS users also reported issues with BitDefender. Ask BitDefender to exclude your two DCS folders : "E:\DCS World" and "C:\Users\My\Saved Games\DCS". Here's how to do it : for most recent version of BitDefender, for BitDefender 2018. Once this is done, launch the game, wait for main menu, then quit, then attach both dcs.log and your install log (E:\DCS World\autoupdate_log.txt). Jack Watts
Hi there When you say attach both dcs.log and your install log (E:\DCS World\autoupdate_log.txt). Do you mean move a copy dcs.log and install log files from (C Drive Saved Games DCS log files) To E Drive DCS World Folder Sorry Flappie " Not Sure What You Mean "

Flappie
Thank you. I can see both Su-27 and L-39C modules were installed successfully on your PC. So far, the only issue I see is that your DCS executable can't access the internet. Have you activated the offline mode? It's an icon on top of the main menu that looks like a Wi-Fi antenna. If the offline mode is off, you should try the following proecdures, in that order: 1. Rename your C:\Users\your_name\Saved Games\DCS folder as "DCS_backup", then launch the game. 2. If DCS still doesn't want to activate Su-27 and L-39C modules, try a cleanup and repair. Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Ever. Jack Watts
Can't you upload from desktop straight to site, or you have go through one of these Web sites first ? I tried what you said 1. Rename your C:\Users\your_name\Saved Games\DCS folder as "DCS_backup", then launch the game. 2. If DCS still doesn't want to activate Su-27 and L-39C modules, try a cleanup and repair. Still getting same errors, I have taken some screenshots of the errors to let you have look, maybe something in them you might not be aware of. Flappie
If you can reach internet on your PC but DCS can't, you can be sure some external software is messing with it. Even if you think you've never installed Avast on your computer, you really should give a go at this uninstaller, because you have the symptoms this guy had. Jack Watts
Hi Flappie Yes I did that, DCS World has unrestricted access to the internet now the change I made was to the Firewall of Bitdefender. Don't no where to go from here,I guess we just keep on trying different stuff until we get it right !!
Flappie
We'll try a more scentific way. Read this page and follow the "How do I check if Windows Firewall is blocking a port" section, step 1 to 13. Launch the game, wait for the error (shouldn't be long) then quit. Read your firewall logging file and look for "DROP" lines. Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Ever.

Flappie
Excellent work. We see three episodes of dropped packets in the log: 16h54 17h05 22h11 It looks pretty much like what happened to the guy I told you about. Can you confirm these packets droppings happened right at the moments you tried to launch updating process yesterday? If you're not sure, you can attach your "E:\DCS World\autoexec_log.txt" file. You need to stop BitDefender momentarily and try to update to be sure it's the culprit. Or you can try this procedure to identify the rule that's blocking DCS. Flappie
OK. You have confirmed DCS is being stopped by your firewall. Now, open BitDefender settings and look for the rule(s) blocking DCS. It can be something blocking the executables (DCS_updater.exe, DCS.exe) and/or something blocking the access to ED servers (digitalcombatsimulator.com , srv7update.digitalcombatsimulator.com). I send you my Discord ID in case you need technical help to work it out. Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Ever.
