RichardG
Cause they don't think its broken. Search is a filter, that is suppose to show, or not show, search radars. It has nothing to do with fire control radars. The way it works in game is completely wrong. Edited October 23, 2020 by RichardG
Dirkan
Do we have a source for that, or is it just speculation based on it not getting fixed? A lof of other bugs haven't been fixed for years either. Until it's fixed. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/mods-and-apps/dcs-mods/190393-f-5e-rwr-search-filter-fix
kengou
I base my opinion of the RWR on how literally every other plane with a Western RWR behaves in this and other sims. I'd find it hard to believe the F-5 behaves differently, and I have no idea why any pilot would want to specifically ONLY show search radars and NOT show high-threat STT and missile locks. 1 Virpil WarBRD | Thrustmaster Hornet Grip | Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle | Logitech G Throttle Quadrant | Genovation 683U | VKB T-Rudder IV | TrackIR 5 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB | 32GB DDR4 3200 | SSD
Northstar98
The search mode in every other RWR in DCS shows search RADARs in addition to RADARs in any other mode/type, in the F-5E-3 it exclusively shows RADARs in a search mode, and rejects any other mode which means if a bandit STTs you and more importantly launches on you with a Fox 1/Fox 3 in active. You'll hear the RWR giving you audible notifications (well, just the once anyway), but won't display them. Same for SAMs, if a SAM locks you it'll disappear from the RWR if it's in search mode. My understanding is that the RWR should display 'S' RADARs (i.e surveillance RADARs) when in search mode (as well as any other RADAR) and only dedicated threat emitters when not in search mode. Of course for a maximum of 16 RADARs displayed. There's also the fact that the RWR launch/ACT PWR/ and priority(*) lights and handoff mode aren't implemented. It's just one of the F-5E-3s F-5E-3-isms in DCS, alongside the TACAN volume knob (doesn't work until DME is acquired from what I can tell, even if you can clearly hear the TACAN tone and have bearing information) the landing/taxi lights (don't come on unless exterior navigation is on, don't know if that's accurate) and the RADAR being pretty simplified. *While priority mode works, the 'priority' text on the button is supposed to flash if the RWR is in priority mode, but more than 6 contacts are detected (priority restricts the display to 6 contacts, but the RWR will still detect everything it can find). QuiGon
Here So this is how this thread ended two years ago: Guys no need to keep bumping this, it has been reported, I dont have a timeline on a fix right now. And now? 2 Intel i7-4790K @ 4x4GHz + 16 GB DDR3 + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing! Malakhit
I'm hoping for a fix for this one soon - seeing a fix for the headwind/tailwind stuff is promising and shows that the F-5 is still being maintained.
ST0RM
Considering the head/tailwind issue has been a few years, the RWR will probably be the same. Or with the DLC: F-5E II
nessuno0505
Head/tailwind issue has been reported by devs on facebook as fixed for the incoming update; what about the rwr? Why it is not even marked as [reported]?

Why it is not even marked as [reported]? The old thread about it started nearly 4 years ago, was supposedly marked reported but nothing ever happened; we were left with a minimalistic implementation of the RWR, with many of the functions absent, but even the one that is doesn't work properly.
