bump, would too love to hear if there have been decisions made or any progress @NineLine. Still really interested in this. Could also been linked in some way with Battlefield Productions maybe 😉

Dear all,   We have been approached by a new 3rd Party, a radar technology company, who would like to gauge the interest in a DLC to allow you to build, command and manage an Integrated Air Defense N

Super interested!     I’m feeding my baby after she woke up again for the billionth time tonight, I’m half zombie with  insomnia, yet even in this wretched state I still become excited enough t

I wouldnt pay to be able to join a server with it, or run / create a mission / campaign with it, cause I have no interest in controlling it. I do however have great interest in fighting it, and this should be a essential core feature in DCS, and not something I should pay for.

And this core feature was promised by ED to be in development already.

Good morning, I have all your modules and I am happy.

Based on the information given, I cannot answer.

1- How will it be managed at the MP level? Does it have to be bought by all clients?

2- I do a lot of mission editing and I see that now the performances are at risk if you are not careful. Should the code be corrected?

Honestly I would prefer to see paid DCS and have all these features in it.

Please consider wrapping up the odds and ends

The modular sales system isn't friendly for things that aren't aircraft.

An alternative sales model could be: DCS World is free, but DCS World Professional comes with WWII assets, Chinese assets, the Super Carrier, the IADS system and other toys that will be of interest to the seasoned simmer.

I, and perhaps the silent majority who aren't ultra-hardcore, really don't like having things like the navigation module for the Mi-8 as a paid-for extra. I've not purchased that, and I wouldn't purchase the IADs, even though I'd probably enjoy them. But I probably would get a single-offering value-enhancer for the base game.

Please consider buying IP outright from third party developers to enhance a paid-for experience, whether its a trendy subscription model or perpetual license like you do for the Black Shark and A-10C module lineages.

Yep, noticed this too, several with less than 10 posts.... Almost like "someone" weighing the scales in a certain direction...hmmm :music_whistling:

Just because someone doesn't post on the forums very often doesn't mean he/she is not invested into DCS, or not following forums. Some rather stay in lurking mode reading along instead of shouting out the same opinion 50 different times.

That being said, i voted "no", plenty of reasons been given in posts prior to mine (WW2 asset pack 'debacle', really should be core or at least part of CA).

That being said, if the module works more like CA rather than the SC in terms of server / interacting requirements, i still wouldn't mind having it around - still not my cup of tea, i'm here for the [combat] flight simming / boat ops / countering IADS', not controlling them.

Hi,

As "someone" who mostly lurks the forums and rarely posts, I have no problem in saying that I'm weighing the scale by voting Yes as I'm positively interested in the subject of the poll.

I did not vote, as I'm kind of conflicted.

Is it something I find highly important and interesting? Hell yes.

And it is from a 3rd party, I'm all for new specialist 3rd parties coming into the scene, improving DCS in novel ways. I also see this would be a lot of development effort, and would need some RoI.

And yet, can't help the feeling that it feels like what should be a core update, or perhaps a CA improvement (though probably not really fitting for the latter, they are different enough).

So can't really bring myself to vote either option.

I too am conflicted on the matter. I do not own CA and I don't want to get it, but I do want to be able to at least set up an IADS network as part of the core game.

I'd even be interested in being able to control it, so I could buy into that, but not if it requires CA.

I would very much welcome an IADS Module.

If its a DLC maybe it could follow the model of PDF editing software:

Meaning read only will be free, to edit one must buy the DLC.

So for example users that don't own the module can take part in missions that feature the IADS. They can not control the SAMs, nor can they create new missions with the IADS.

Personally I am not interested in controlling SAM sites in DCS or playing General. I am very much in to flying fighters, thats what DCS is really good at.

But I would very much welcome a more intelligent IADS. Electronic Warfare features would have to go hand in hand with that in my opinion.

I would not be interested in buying it because it should be a part of core game. What next, will we have to purchase an additional surprise $60 DLC just to get the Lazur working in MiG-23, because it will be a separate module? Just like we were dropped a $30 paywall on our heads to get proper carrier ops in Hornet after we all purchased the module? Will ATC be a separate module? Are we headed towards a multiplayer environment where servers either have a $200 paywall just to get on them and are eternally empty, or have a feature set of LOMAC so that they stay populated?

I really don't like this direction we're headed, fragmenting core sim functionality. If the aircraft modules can't pay for the core game's features anymore, the game should be made payware IMO, it was never really free to play in the first place anyway. I haven't purchased Supercarrier and I certainly won't be buying modules like those, if it keeps going into this direction I'm not gonna bother with DCS anymore.

Please see the OP, and here. The team has been watching and wanted to add some additional feedback:

We will have an internal discussion about this topic next week but for now, some things I can tell right away:

· There would have to be some DCS Core functionality to integrate our module seamlessly. My idea was to go the same way as the Supercarrier module.

o IADS network could be auto-generated by just pressing the button in the Mission Editor (pre-defined or user-defined rules) – this would be available to everybody.

o The ability to build the network would be part of the DCS, as well as necessary functional links.

o Everybody would be able to build and fight the IADS, but only the module owners could run the Command & Control Interface and interact with it. In other words:

§ everybody will be able to generate or build it

§ everybody will be able to see it

§ everybody will be able to suppress or destroy it

§ only the module owner will be able to issue commands and control the network and the units.

· Basics of Electronic Warfare – different types of jamming and its effects (simulation). Given the overwhelming complexity of the topic, we are considering to do it as a separate module. More info will follow.

· We will not simulate the individual SAM systems or units – not enough publicly available information (besides, it would be incredibly boring, by our opinion). Our idea is to simulate an Air Defense system as a whole.

"DCS: Clouds" will next... followed by "DCS: Land based ATC".... "DCS: Dynamic Campaign"... at this rate, don't be surprised if they start trying to sell individual weapon systems....heading right into the direction of that online game with planes, tanks and ships....

Dear lord, yes it would be, more than most people realize if it was done full-fi rather than an arcade version of SAMs
