Development Report

 

 

Overall

  • The cockpit model: Aft Crew Station and Front Crew Station - 100% completed.
  • Animated cockpit objects: Aft Crew Station - 100%, Front Crew Station - WIP (40%).
  • The external 3D model - 100%
  • Animation of external model objects - 70%.
  • The flight model is complete now and will undergo fine tuning.
  • Power plant - 100%.

 

Helicopter Systems

  • Completed Electrical Power Supply System - 100%;
  • Fuel System - 80%;
  • Hydraulic System -100%
  • Oil Systems - 80%
  • Anti-Ice System - WIP
  • Fire Detection & Extinguishing Systems - 70%;
  • Brake system - 100%,
  • Air Conditioning System - WIP
  • Lighting System - WIP
  • Flight control system (including SAU-V24) - 80% (WIP - SAU setting)
  • Completed radio communication equipment - 100%;

Mi-24P: The external 3D model - 100% completed ???

 

I am not too happy seeing that ▲ :(

:idea: Hopefully we will get animated windshield-wipers (for the cockpit 3D model too - with rain remover effect) and heat-shields (IR signature suppressors) on that 3D model as well :yes:

 

:gun_smilie: I also hope we will get door gunners for that Hind. :gun_rifle:

Good spot with wipers. I dont see it on 3D models but maybe this is this line: Animation of external model objects - 70%?

Can we please have the wipers (opps its prob under 70% animated objects duh me) and the 2 odd square devices or access panels on the chin directly under the gunner added to final release? and definitely First day purchase! it looks fantastic.

Wonderful update - wonderful features. I will pre-order this one.

 

I couldn't really ask for more!

 

Regarding the door gunner comments that have been made - I could see even AI controlled PK machine guns being useful as a way of having extra eyes to pick out targets (even though visibility is poor from those positions). They could also suppress manpads *if* AI gets to the point where suppression is a thing... they don't have to be effective as weapons.

 

Of course, if the rumours of a Kord do come about that'd actually have a significant effect against vehicles... but sometimes it is actually nice to have marginal effectiveness... the challenge etc.

Looking very nice in the progress.... Kind to deliver such a report with the estimations of the progress status, helps a lot in waiting time.

 

I do have a wondering question that how are the gunner optical sight being integrated with the VR? In a TrackIR or monitor I don't see so much problems as one can just move their head in the headrest and have a "snap-on" to it and then have a full screen view that to be controlled.

 

But in VR it might not work so nicely as real head disconnected from the visual sight is disorienting.

This is similar thing in the other helicopters too in my opinion. Like the UH-1H co-pilot gunsight and Kord in a Mi-8MTv2. I so would like to know how to get the "aiming" separated from the control of the weapon itself?

 

Example, I could get to it that one does "put head between knees" kind attitude for the Hind gunner sight, where the vision goes completely black, but there is then at the center this "obscura" floating there, that is like a video image "in darkness". Player is capable to turn head and all but that image stays fixed in the darkness but not to the head.

I love to use Kord in the Mi-8 as a door gunner (just dislike the VR experience as the weapon aiming is directly locked to VR head movements, very unnatural experience to me).

 

It is effective, it is accurate, but oh boy does one need to be reloading it all the time!

It is nice to shoot short bursts on the move where you get the ranging and aiming zeroed at 2-1.5 km range first with two bursts, and then start laying fire at the troops. Fairly easy to hit infantry even at those ranges and even nicer to APC.

 

The problem that I just have is that inside the 1.5-1.3 km the typical APC has laser aiming, so they will lay down fire at you faster than you get to say a cursing...

I so hope that the infantry and all the other manual firing weapon units gets revisiting to their aiming in the future. It is not fun how LAV-25 snipes you down from 3 km range with a very high probability but a M161 Vulcan can't do it, it is like a CV9040 with latest Anti-Air targeting system. :-D

My dreams come true.

I am waiting for the Mi-24 since my beginning on FC3 more than 13 years ago!

Thx a lot ED for this update, you really make my day!

It was a lot of announcements in the past regarding this module but we can see now that the Hind becomes a reality....:D:D

I will share some pictures of my Mi-24 simpit in the future. The question is, what will be finished first, my simpit or the Mi-24P module? :smilewink:
