OB 2.5.6.53756 Syria CTD

RDDL405

Recommended Posts

For some reason I have had a CTD while flying on the 107th Syria server using both the F-14 and F-18C. It happens at random times and with no frame sputtering or indications of a crash. This is all I get from my crash file:

# -------------- 20200820-155119 --------------

DCS/2.5.6.53756 (x86_64; Windows NT 10.0.18363)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_e92a0ac2e05fb2ca\nvwgf2umx.dll

# C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0629121B 00:00000000

SymInit: Symbol-SearchPath: '.;G:\DCS World OpenBeta;G:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32;SRV*C:\websymbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols;', symOptions: 530, UserName: 'Nick'

If someone could help me understand this or report it as a bug that'd be awesome. Cheers guys!

We need the whole file attached to your post. Here's how to do it:

1. When replying, click "Go Advanced"

2. Click on "Manage Attachments" button

3. Click one of the "Browse..." buttons then select your latest \Logs\dcs.log-2020######.zip file (better than a simple dcs.log file).

4. Click on "Upload"

5. Close the popup window then click "Submit Reply".

Your pagefile is very small (6 GB) compared to your RAM (32GB). Can you please check in your Windows Virtual Memory parameters that the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is ON?

You can find some help here.

That's weird. How much free space have you got on your C:\ drive?

If you have more than 80GB free space, I suggest you untick that box and fill the fields like this:

I have 25674 MB on my C drive, but DCS is on a separate SSD and that has 243468 MB free. Also, as an aside I had another crash today, there was no .zip created, just this as a CRASH file: # -------------- 20200822-003812 --------------

By default, the pagefile.sys file is stored on the system disk (C:\). It means that even when you play a game installed on your G:\ drive, the cache memory is stored on C:\. And 24GB is not enough free space for your system disk (because of this page file which can grow depending on what you do with your rig, but not only: think about future Windows updates, for instance).

I suggest you:

1/ Move your page file to your G:\ drive

Simply select G:\ drive instead of C:\ drive in the above screenshot. Apply, then Windows will move the pagefile.sys file accordingly (a restart may be necessary).

Oh, by the way, I told you to put a max of "32768" because I thought you had 32GB of RAM. Please use 24576 instead (1024 x 24).

2/ Clean up your C:\ drive to give Windows more space.

It's important, and not only for playing DCS.
