Thanks Guys! Your right the mods are definitely not payware. If they were i would be selling them on the market. If there was a modeling class i could take i would be the first in line. But thanks Markinel, Bungo, Eddie and Hawkeye i've faired very well for one person doing all the modeling. As mentioned modeling is my medicine for my PAIN!!  

 

I fully agree Eddie and i still don't understand why the biggest mod i have can maneuver all over the Harbor. I have tested all of the other mods and none can transit the harbor. I've tried changing the ship type coding in the lua but still no change. The Game engine can definitely tell which mod is which. The mods that do function are below. 

 

Also, i'm starting to see some 2.7 issues. Some of my small mods aren't functioning anymore.  The Iranian Patrol Boat is broken but its an easy fix. 

 

I'm finishing up the USS America for release later today.

I wonder if its something to do with the size of the collision box, or the bounding box. In modelviewer you can see that outlined and on some models it appears much larger than the actual model iitself, perhaps that is influencing something.  Im assuming your USS America has a collision file ?

 

That said I think the water depth on the map needs adjusting, that would solve it.

Yes, America has a large collision model. I have some models without a collision model and they still don't work. 

 

Yes, they just need to resolve it but that gives me an idea also... I will test the America's collision with another model and see what happens..

No joy with swapping America's collision model to another model! I think it's the main lua. When it comes to mods. The Game Engine reads the main lua and only see's the mods as objects. The game knows the mod is a aircraft or ship by the main lua and reads the animations and lighting that has been configured.

 

The LCAC, LCU and my Weapons barge can transit the channel as well.

The only boat/ship I can get to pass through the harbour entrance and also to pass through the narrows into the inner harbour is the armed speedboat, everything else stops out side the harbour entrance, some get through it then stop - smaller boat types get about 100 yds inside, no further.  Nothing bigger than the armed speedboat gets even close to the inner harbour. Will try a carrier with armed speedboat data later and see what happens.

Something else i tried. There's code in the speedboat called GT.riverCraft = true, tried that with a bigger ship but nothing changed.  The USS America can transit around the entire harbor almost to include the outermost areas. But why is the question? Why the America and not other craft.

Its either something done in 3dmax (which I know absolutely nothing about as you know) or its something in the lua. When (?) I find the lua for the speedboat I might see something in that but finding that is a problem, anyone know where its hidden ?  The other option is compare your America lua with others that dont work and see if there is something different there.  3dmax or lua, cant see it being anything else - Its a mystery.

Your LCAC works ... it will transit all the way in from out at at sea to inner harbour, does a few weird things on the way through the narrows but it gets there, I will start with that and see if it throws up some ideas.  (After the Test Match - Cricket First, after all, we are British !!)

speedboat.lua Within Max we can adjust the depth elevation and also adjust the height of the collision model but that's all that i know of in Max.

 

So i took the code from America and added it to another vessel and it locked my PC up hard!! I had to do a hard shutdown and i don't like doing that. Lesson learned! There have to be something in there.

I have an old FSX Patuxent model that has no hull under the waterline, so I tried that and it still gets stuck in the entrance, so its not the hull depth that's affecting things.

 

I will keep trying, and let you know if I crack it. Other than that we have to hope the developer does something to the map to allow us to enter that harbour, but knowing how these things work in DCS I dont anticipate that happening anytime soon.  You can enter some of the harbours on the Syria map so it can be done.

Hey Guys! The USS America LHA-6 has departed port and headed for sea. With that said i have released her. You can find her on page one # 19

 

USS America (LHA-6), is an amphibious assault ship of the United States Navy and the lead ship of her class. The fourth U.S. warship to be named for the United States of America, she was delivered in spring of 2014, replacing Peleliu of the Tarawa class. Her mission is to act as the flagship of an expeditionary strike group or amphibious ready group, carrying part of a Marine expeditionary unit into battle and putting them ashore with helicopters and V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, supported by F-35B Lightning II aircraft and helicopter gunships.

 

As always please let me know of any major issues such as weapons not working or aircraft crashing on deck and so forth.  As mentioned the Elevator are NOT operational. I will have to work on it separately from the model. Please enjoy!

I would like to say a BIG BIG thanks to a few of you who assisted with testing and giving ideas to bring America together. Hawkeye60, BUNGO, Gunter, Toan, Marroux and FETUS.  I thank you all for taking a small portion of your time to assist with testing and giving me input to create the USS America. THANKS!!!

 

It's a BIG model with a lot of detail that's why the file is so big. If i shrink it. She will lose a lot of detail. Enjoy!!

Not sure if it's a major issue, but it looks like in the unit definition, the Sea Sparrow launchers are set to the bushmaster mount connectors, and the Sea Sparrows have connectors for 42 missiles spread across two launchers, while the RAMs have connectors for 22 missiles across two launchers. The Sea Sparrows should have 8 per, and the RAM launchers should have 21 per. Perhaps their definitions got swapped at some point?

Hey Near_Blind,

 

I swapped them because for some reason they wouldn't work with the appropriate launcher. We see that sometimes in DCS. Same with Miniguns. Sometimes we have to test multiple scripts to find the one that works. You can swap back and test it just make sure you disable the one not used using -- in front of the code.

 

Hey Toni, once i see the Forrestal is getting close to release i will definitely create escorts for her. They may be creating some as well.  I will still create the 2nd version of the America USS Tripoli as soon as i can change the hull numbers.  Also try and work on the Hangar bay!

 

At the moment i'm taking a break from modeling for a while!!

Nice Work Admiral, I've been waiting for this release for a while. Looks fantastic, Let me know if you need some testing with the lowered collision model for the deck. Plenty of time locked down at the moment! Already have her sailing on a operational readiness workup.

Tested on my end, Admiral, but again, Harriers are now perfectly parked on the deck, not floating, but textures issues all over the place again.
