DCS crashes at startup in VR - out of ideas

Hey Everyone,

I've been able to run DCS OB with my HP Reverb for over a year without issues, but since either updating to latest OB, or updating Win 10 to 2004, the game keeps crashing at startup.

I see the 'hanger' screen with the mig29, but textures are missing from the plane and then DCS generates crash log.

I'm able to start the game in non VR mode no problem.

Likewise, a half dozen other VR games I have are running without issue on my system.

There is no GPU overclocking.

Crash logs attached. Support desk we unable to help other than suggesting to me to google "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED".

All drivers and patches are up to date.

I've tried rolling back Nvidia drivers with DDU multiple times with multiple versions including old 446.14 to the latest and greatest 451.85 hot fix.

I've tried repairing my DCS install

I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled

I've tried beta and non beta version of WMR and steam.

I've tried disabing vsync in Nvidia CP

I tried rubbing my belly and jumping at the same time to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

Have you tried dropping the gpu overclock ? You might also try less pd/aa .

Try to back up and remove your option or config lua from your save game(I forgot which is called) but the idea is to have DCS boot up with default settings

Ryzen 1700 @ 3.8GHz / 32GB( 4x8 ) @ 3.2GHz / 1TB ADATA NVMe System Drive / 232GB NVMe Samsung 960 / ASUS dual RTX 2080ti / Reverb / Rift CV1 / T-16000M FCS flight pack

On an SSD? If not try Chkdsk on the drive it's installed on.

Try renaming the folder where it's installed... then re-install. I know you've reinstalled but it likely installed to the same part of the drive and it "might" have issues. Less likely with an SSD though. Copy your saved games DCS folder to another location before you re-install.

Try adding a hangar mod so there's a different scene when it boots.

Nvidia RTX3080 (HP Reverb), AMD 3800x

Asus Prime X570P, 64GB G-Skill RipJaw 3600

Saitek X-65F and Fanatec Club-Sport Pedals (Using VJoy and Gremlin to remap Throttle and Clutch into a Rudder axis)

Is it hanging at the main menu GUI hangar? Or hangar when you start your mission? If it hangs at main menu, why is it trying to read a mission file and write track file?

2020-07-30 19:12:02.482 INFO DCS: try to write track file

2020-07-30 19:12:02.540 WARNING DCS: mission file empty

If it hangs when you start a mission, try different mission and/or different plane.

It crashes at the initial gaming load screen after executing the dcs world shortcut

I can’t even start a mission obviously. i'm not sure why it tries to write a track file....perhaps just a part of the dump log file.
