Once again : More callsigns needed

Spearzone

Recommended Posts

I know this has been requested before but I'd like to bring it to attention again :

We truly need some more callsigns for player and AI aircraft.

Just hearing ENFIELD, UZI and COLT all the time gets kind of boring in terms of radio comms.

If you have any suggestions for new callsigns please reply !

As for specifics, there are tonnes of real-life ones choose from that can be fairly easily sourced.

Personally, for me, even the NATO phonetic alphabet would be sufficient enough (though it's probably more suitable for ground units).

Here's the call signs from SF2 (excluding ones that are present in DCS), they should be more than enough, they are taken from real world call signs AFAIK:

  • ANVIL
  • AUSTIN
  • BISON
  • BUICK
  • COWBOY
  • CRAB
  • DAGGER
  • DALLAS (Used by a FARP in DCS)
  • DENVER
  • GOPHER
  • GUNSLINGER
  • KINGFISH
  • LION
  • MAMBA
  • MEMPHIS
  • OLDS
  • OYSTER
  • PYTHON
  • RAMROD
  • RAMBLER
  • SHOWTIME
  • TIGER
  • TROUT
  • TUNA
  • VIPER
  • WOLFPACK
  • ZULU

I'll edit if I find more.

Hopefully we'll see more call signs and improved voices with the new radio system. Personally, when it comes to comms, I think DCS does a slightly worse job than SF2 when it comes to voices and certainly when it comes to call signs.

Above all else, I would love if the new Callsigns were not US Centric but instead were more adaptable. The SF2 list would be a good start but as a Campaign maker who loves to make shit up, just having generic callsigns that does not scream "United States" would be awesome.

Oh yeah sure, it would be great to have nation specific call signs.

I just meant as a starting point, especially when most playable aircraft in DCS are US.

+1

I'd be happy with the NATO phonetic alphabet but adding country specific call signs would be icing on the top.

The germans where using following spelling alphabet (would be nice for german warbirds but all pilots are talking english with a german accent anyway )

Ä - Ärger

A – Anton

B – Berta

C – Cäsar

D – Dora

E – Emil

F – Friedrich

G – Gustav

H – Heinrich

I – Ida

J – Julius

K – Konrad

L – Ludwig

M – Martha

N – Nordpol

O – Otto

Ö – Ödipus

P – Paula

Q – Quelle

R – Richard

S – Siegfried

T – Theodor

U – Ulrich

Ü – Übel

V – Viktor

W – Wilhelm

X – Xanthippe

Y – Ypsilon

Z - Zeppelin

The phonetic alphabet used by the allies during ww2 also has some nice callsigns IMO

Able

Baker

Charlie

Dog

Easy

Fox

George

How

Item

Jig

King

Love

Mike

Nan

Oboe

Peter

Queen

+1 This would be really handy - for me at least, much more welcome than yet another shiny new weapon or minor bug fix, and hopefully doesn't take that much doing.

And in case inspiration is needed, here's some I see on Freedar quite often:

Rockstar

Pirate

Recon

Albert (RAF C130)

Warlord

Havoc

NATO

Razor

Rebel

Tempest

plus a load more I just found here

I'd like to bump this topic. With the recent news that the ATC rework will require re-recording voice, I'd like to ask that new callsigns be added when the recordings happen.  I understand that may be a low priority, but it would really help with immersion if we could add a bunch of new callsigns, especially those used in real operations.  There are a ton of great suggestions in this thread, but I'd like to add a few suggestions of my own that I heard in the course of my time in the Marine Corps.

I found the attached list helpful for one of my own missions. (Obviously had to create my own communication audio files)

Would indeed be nice to eventually see ED add a bit more callsign variations

Also :

The possibility to change the Callsign IN MISSION ie via rearm Menu!

It's not needed for single run missions but for the dynamic 24/7 stuff.

You found a mate to play with?

Uzi 8-2 and Ford 3-1 doesn't work well.

So you can set with someone else to your wish.

Especially with many more callsigns.

Also so to add. It's annoying to see a plane with HMD like UZ11 but i can't tell him to defend against a missile because his Callsign is somewhat else and he won't react to it. (24/7 Server of course)

Greetings 🙂
